Surname: Presented to Institution Name, Location Date ТHЕ IMРАСT ОF MАNАGЕMЕNT INFОRMАTIОN SYSTЕM (МIS) IN YОUR ОRGАNIZАTION Introduction The management information system is an idea that came to be in the last decade or two, there are many definitions that are given to management information systems (Laudon K. J., 2010). One of them is that, it is system that gives support for decision making in organizations in terms of information. It is an integrated system that involves man and machines meant to cooperate in provision of information for the leaders to make informative decisions (Laudon & Laudon, 2009). In Microsoft Corporation, a good portion of time is spent in collecting, processing, documentation for people. Avery individual working in the organization spends time looking for information continuously that they need to perform their tasks effectively (Lucey, 2005). Therefore it is very clear that information is people oriented and it entirely depends on the nature of the employees in the organization. MIS in any organization plays a major role; information can be compared to the human blood while MIS is the heart. MIS makes sure that information is collected from all possible sources, processed and sends to all needy destinations (Laudon & Laudon, 2009). Impact of MIS on work The management information system in satisfies various needs of my organization in terms of workload by using various systems which include query systems, analysis system, decision support systems and the modeling systems (Laudon K. J., 2010). MIS is also very important in the process of strategic planning, control of operations and the transactions process. In Microsoft the support provided by MIS to the clerical personnel in the tasking transaction processing cannot be undermined; it keeps and provides reliably the status of a particular transaction (Laudon & Laudon, 2009). It is also of very high importance to every junior management individuals in Microsoft Corporation as the operational data that helps them in the planning, scheduling and control of the organizations operations. MIS has also great magnitude in helping the managers in making decisions at the operations level in attempt to always correct a situation that is out of control (Laudon K. J., 2010). MIS is also a tool that gives support in planning, setting of targets, and controlling the functions of the business making Microsoft to grow in its business faster. Management information systems are also supported by the use of management tools of both planning and control (Laudon & Laudon, 2009). The top management of Microsoft is also given a hand by the management information systems by providing an easy way of setting goals, planning strategically and evolving the plans of the business and the implementation. The system also plays a very important role in generation of information, communication, and identification of problems. The solution decisions of the identified problems are done on the basis of the information that MIS provides within Microsoft (Lucey, 2005). Impact of MIS on business functions The impact that MIS has on the business functions of Microsoft is mainly in the management of the system itself. With the unfailing support of the MIS, the management of sectors such as production, finance, and personnel is made more efficient (Laudon K. J., 2010). MIS makes the tracking and the monitoring of the functional systems to be easier (Khazanchi & Munkvold, 2000). Through the use of MIS managers of Microsoft are informed of the progress, achievements, and the shortfalls on the probable trends in the diverse parts of the business. It also gives a hand forecasting on the future prospects hence helping term in planning for long prospects of the business ventures of the company (Laudon & Laudon, 2009). MIS brings the attention of managers of Microsoft to s situation which is exceptional naturally, it makes managers to take an action or make a decision concerning the matter (Avgerou, 2000). Well structured and disciplined information reporting a system makes sure that there is structured data and knowledge available to all the workers in the organization. The information is availed in such a way that it that it can be put into use when needed or through a blending analysis this saves a lot of valuable time for the managers (Laudon K. J., 2010). Impacts of MIS on industrial completions Management information system also creates an impact in the organization which helps in understanding clearly the business itself as compared to other organization just as Microsoft has, this ways; the Microsoft can evaluate its competitiveness on the market. MIS starts with the definition of data as an entity and its characteristics (Avgerou, 2000). It makes use of the dictionary where data entry and its attributes, all these are designed to help in generation of information this brings clarity in communication and common understanding within the organization(Lucey, 2005). MIS always requires systemization of all the operations that are carried out by the organization; this enables effective design of systems for the business to run smoothly. A system that is well designed like that of Microsoft, with more focus on the manager will always have great impact on the managerial efficiency (Hevner, 2004). The fund that is given by information to Microsoft gives motivation and enlightens the manager to make good use of various tools of management (Laudon & Laudon, 2009). MIS make the manager of Microsoft to put into practice exercises such as experimentation and modeling. The use of machines such as computers enables to make use of tools and techniques that can be possibly used manually (Khazanchi & Munkvold, 2000). The packages, presented by MIS as readymade makes the work of the leaders and other workers very easy. The impact of MIS is greatly felt in the ease that the work of a managers are made by the system, this is due to the fact that it greatly improves on the decision making process by the managers(Lucey, 2005). Due to the fact that MIS works on the essential systems which include transaction processing and database, the hard work of the clerical work is which is always hectic is transferred into computerized database systems (Avgerou, 2000). This relieves the human mind for efficiency in doing other works. It has been taken into consideration within Microsoft consideration that a lot of man power is always put in while doing this work in the organization (Laudon K. J., 2010). If we take time to study individual utilization of time and application we will within Microsoft definitely we shall find out that seventy percent of the time is used in recording, processing, communicating or searching of information. All these impacts on the management and leaders will directly reflect on the performance of the company, a company that is running with good MIS will definitely grow and be competitive in the market just as Microsoft has done over time (Hevner, 2004) Impacts of MIS on organizational strategy This is a very large overhead within Microsoft Corporation. MIS has a direct and highly felt impact on this particular overhead and strategy building; MIS crates an information-based culture of working within the organization (Laudon & Laudon, 2009).Through management information systems, my company have the ability to highlight both their strengths and their weaknesses this is made possible by the presence of revenue report, performance of the employees and many others (Khazanchi & Munkvold, 2000). The ability to identify these particular aspects helps the Microsoft make great improvement on their business processes and operations. MIS gives an overall picture of the operations of the Microsoft this makes it to act as communication and planning tool for the company (Avgerou, 2000). The availability of the data about the customer and their respective feedback helps a lot in aligning the business processes in correlation with the needs of the customer. The efficient management of the customer data enables the Microsoft to do the marketing and promotion of products or services effectively (Lucey, 2005). Conclusion Organizations that are information based have to be planned in an integrated way. This way all the stages of processing information are engaged in bringing out the agility, quality and the productivity of the company. Information has come out as an agent stipulating the integration and enabling new competitiveness in the recent times enterprise in the international market. The idea of strategic planning has changes enough and at the moment it greatly supports planning of information systems and using technology, this is a new methodology which is highly needed for progress to be realized. Most of the management methods regard management planning as a separate level which does not connect either structurally or directly to the development of management information systems. Integrating planning with both development and management through enterprise information resources captures and characterizes the business this will shorten the cycle this can even allow evaluation of the economic level by use of information systems that the organization has invested in.
