Personal Reflection Student’s Name Subject Professor University/Institution Location Date Strengths: As a person with great interest of working with people, I learned my strengths at early ages where I was able to raise advocacy, mediation, convincing and competency in communicating skills. One of the notable achievements from early age of learning was clarity when asking a question or when giving a feedback. I was able to explain issues and share comments very well in a clear way and this strongly endeared the interest to work in interactive professions and Human Resource Management was one of them. I am organized and assume an orderly approach in organizing my study files, documents and handouts even soft-copy files. I have learned that multitasking skills is not an option in HRM. On any ideal day, I deal with many friends, colleagues and family members with personal issues. Helping colleagues has greatly improved my interaction and helped me to handle different people at once. I am flexible and adapt quickly to different situations. This is reflected through life activities like travelling and studying abroad. I have travelled and studied in three different cities which need extensive adapting for efficient studying. Flexibility was critical demand for different situations, different lifestyles, weather, cultures and food. I therefore, realized I got skill to adapt and flexibility. I have developed a strong personal trait in discretion and ensuring business ethics in performance of professional demands. I have a dual focus in career where I can competently work both as an employee and in management. Through a balance focus in performance, I realize that when to side and protect the organization, it values and culture and when to protect an employee. Strong advocacy skills will help me to build employees trust as I can address the concerns of the others and enforce top management to come up or amend policies. I also adopt fairness and dedication to constant improvement (Chen & Huang 2009). There are orientation skills that are pertinent with HRM and I adopt them in career lifestyle. Team orientation will enhance my working in companies with hierarchies and cross-work with other supervisors and departmental managers. I understand team dynamics where I can efficiently bring personalities together for tem work. Through strategic orientation, I have learnt to take a leadership role which influence strategic management. This will then ensure that different company labor needs are filled, devise compensation schemes and bring new skills for business growth. I am capable of team working as an essential skill in HRM (Bloom & Van Reenen 2011). I was able to work in teams from early age through participation in team activities at school. Sports and art works were the best field where I developed and grew up my competency in working in groups to accomplish different tasks. Once I had moved to UK for further studies, I was studied English language as a foundation course. The course work had a lot to do with group work presentations, exercises and essays. Throughout school encounter, I have worked with people from different traditions, countries and with different cultures and characters. Teamwork has improved my skills in team working through working across different people with different personalities and orientation. I am multilingual with English and Arabic as core languages. I have also done level 1, German language where I am currently doing level 1, Italian language. This makes me fluent in two languages and basics in the other two that will help me work when an organization is in need or with relations or doing businesses with Italian or German personalities. I can further proceed my language studies from intermediate level. Multitasking skill has in every way been helpful and beneficial where I have delivered and achieved many tasks at the same time saving time and cutting related costs. Time management has advantaged me to be successful and performance better in class work and general life’s activities. Communication has been an important skill that will be needed in the profession. I find it easier in consulting, giving feedback and responses and explaining critical issues when working with other people such as students in different tasks. Positive attitude has been a trait that has formed my personality. I am ever optimistic which has had a positive impact to my performance and people whom interact with as well. Weaknesses I lack interest in some topics and activities which I am less interested doing and taking part. Such lack of interest is therefore cumbersome that may reduce my effectiveness and productivity in less interesting tasks. Application of numeracy has been hard for me as I have not been good in mathematics which used to be my lowest score in school. Opportunities After finishing my bachelor, I will get employed in a good organization. There are multiple job opportunities in Saudi Arabia due to growth of Human Resources department in different organization. Having specialized in Human Resources is an added advantage. I will easily proceed with master’s degree through a scholarship offered by ministry of education. My high school academic excellence led me to be awarded the current scholarship for bachelor’s degree in UK. It is my choice to proceed and do a master’s degree. Since I currently cannot afford the course fees, I will take it as an opportunity. Threats I experience boredom when I spend much time in one activity. This makes me vulnerable in tasks that take long time where I lose focus. Balancing the social life and work life might be problematic to me for instance in self-employment career. The distractions of friends and family encourage me to spend much time or get carried away. Personal Development From December 2012 to September 2013, I purpose to learn to solve life distracting issues like being carried by friends and family. Through meeting professionals I will learn to balance between work and social life. The most effective resource in this will be to avail myself as there are many lecturers and mentors who can help without any charges. I will evaluate my achievement when I successfully separate work life and social life by the end of September 2013. To improve the application of numeracy, I will train at University’s Website sigma through available computers and website. Achievement will be confirmed from January 2013 onwards while applying those skills in working profile. For boredom, I will meet a therapist to advice on staying focused and improving productivity in less interesting tasks and topics. By September 2013, I will have confirmed by exercising myself in such activities. SMART Objectives: Objective 1: Improving my application of numeracy skills: Training at Sigma website in the university, 4 times every week and attain a background and decent numeracy skills application.
