Executive Summary Total Quality Management is an important platform that enables smooth running of an organization. It contains significant development techniques for managers and supervisors in order to enhance the production of an organization. The report body of this assignment contains the importance of TQM in organizational development. The entire analysis is done from evidences obtained from important articles and journals related to TQM. Based on the analysis it is significant that Quality management techniques are important but they alone cannot be useful for sustainable long-term developments. In order to achieve sustainable long-term developments an organization must set TQM as the basic parameter during operations and further innovations should be made to overcome the issues addressed in the modern and competitive consumer market. Report Body Total Quality Management is a business management scheme that aims in embedding quality awareness in all organizational processes. With the help of this workshop, supervisors and managers are able to create quality management culture in their organizations. Total Quality Management is not just a program that aims for a specific period in fact it is a method that focuses towards continuous improvement of an organization. Total Quality Management is not only important for the manufacturing industries, it is also essential for the development of service industries, educational sectors and government organizations. Total Quality Management aims at the constant attainment of support that is required for customer satisfaction with the help of integrated system tools, training and techniques. Total Quality Management includes some set of rules and guidelines that must be followed by the management and employees of an organization in order to attain significant development. The problem solving sequence of TQM consists of six basic steps. First of all, it is essential to define a problem based on which the management is required to understand the significance of work that is to be done in the process. It is also essential to identify the commodity that is being processed. Analysis is required based on which the process is described with the help of algorithms and flow charts. Identification of the problem is also required to be done in order check the issues that have been addressed during the processing. In the second step, identification of possible causes is required to be determined. It is essential to identify the causes due to which problem occurs during the progression of an organizational process (Kanji 99). Various data are required to be analyzed during the step including frequency distribution charts and control charts. In the third step, evaluation of the possible causes of problem is essential. It is important to determine the relationship between effect and causes of the problems occurred during progression of a process. In the fourth step, the implementation of changes is required after identifying the causes of problem. During this process, appropriate changes are required to be incorporated in order to overcome the problems associated with the progression of the process. The fifth step of TQM is to test the changes incorporated for proper working of the process. The changes incorporated must be checked thoroughly with the help of control charts, histograms and required diagrams. The final step is to fix the changes incorporated after the changes are installed for smooth working of the process. The implementation of these steps in TQM signifies complete customer satisfaction, reduces the cost of production and enhances employee performance in an organization. Total Quality Management is an effective system for quality maintenance, enhancing quality development and quality improvement efforts made by different groups in an organization. Total Quality Management is applicable in various stages of an industrial cycle in order to ensure complete customer satisfaction. TQM is applicable during the marketing of product in an organization. It plays an essential role during the engineering or planning of product development. TQM is also an important management tool during the purchasing of raw materials and manufacturing of products. Since TQM focuses on the quality of product hence, it has significant role to play during the entire manufacturing process. TQM also enhances the sales and service of products so it ensures proper shipping of products from an industry to the retail market. In the traditional approach to industrial progresses there were several limitations. Moreover, the focus of the traditional approach was product oriented and it basically enhanced the quantity of production instead of giving significant importance to product quality. After the implementation of Total Quality Management the entire concept of production has changed from an organization’s perspective. Most of the manufacturing and service industries in the modern world emphasize on product quality and they are completely customer-oriented. The priorities of production have also improved and organizations give higher priorities to service and cost of products. Organizations had short-term goals towards sustainability of their product in the market in the traditional approaches however after the implementation of TQM; most of the organizations have long-term visions towards the sustainability of their products. According to the rules and guidelines of Total Quality Management each and every employee of an organization is responsible for the quality of product launched in the market. Previously, the Quality control of the organizations was responsible for any kind of defects in the quality of production. The enhancement of the quality measures is significant on a high scale after the incorporation of TQM in the industries (Hakes 62). TQM is also beneficial in schools and research institutes. In the educational sectors TQM plays important role in the subject oriented matters. With the help of TQM the administration department of the schools and colleges are able to verify, whether the subjective material is updated or not. The educational organizations also verify the quality of teaching the lecturers pose during their class hours. In research institutes TQM helps in recognizing the best outcome of a scientific experiment or research problem. The common practices of TQM in industrial sectors are process management, cross-functional design of product, involvement of costumers, obtaining information and feedback from customers, commitment from leaders in the organization, strategic planning, appropriate training and employee motivation (Bounds 52). These factors have helped in delivering optimum quality product and service to customers across the globe. The main mantra of Total Quality Management is to satisfy customer because it is only method based on which organizations can enhance their production capacity and earn high profit. TQM also focuses on satisfaction of supplier because it enhances company’s interest. Organizations can satisfy external suppliers by making fair payment on time. In order to satisfy internal suppliers like labors, managers and supervisors must emphasize on the working environment. The working environment of an organization must be productive and happy. Total Quality Management also emphasizes on continuous improvement of quality products. It has been observed that the change of trend increases the competency in the market. TQM focuses on the problems associated with quality and production. It also reduces the expenses of production and helps in the development of quality and sustainability of the processes of organizations. With the implementation of TQM, companies are able to attain sustainability in the competitive market. TQM emphasizes on the process of working environment and focuses on smart working instead of hard working. It is significant that smart working is required in the modern industries because high quality products and services are expected by consumers at cheaper prices. In order to achieve success in the present consumer market organizations must find alternative methods like smart workers in order to initiate multi-tasking during productions. For example, if an organization tries to increase production on a defective machine by implementing hard workers, it would result in production of defective parts, inappropriate expenses and delays. On the other hand smart workers can identify problems in the beginning of the production method and reduce the expenses for an organization. Total Quality management uses control of processes and quality assurance as well as products in order to achieve consistent quality of production. According to the Jamal K. Al-Dabal, TQM is the best change initiative that provides all organizations a competitive advantage (Wilson 82). Jamal also mentioned that there are several areas where TQM provides a requirement for change in the initiative along with others. Undoubtedly TQM is the best for services that are emphasized on customer satisfaction but in the modern world it has become a basic step of implementation for organizations. In order to sustain in the present competitive environment organizations must incorporate new remedies along with TQM in order to ensure high productivity. Since Total Quality Management plays a major role in the issues of Production and Operations Management it is essential to recommend a classification method for this section that begins with the TQM paradigm. The first fifty issues contained articles related to quality and human resources, quality and performance and service quality. Service quality and technical tools were mainly focused to overcome the issues related to organizational development. In the educational organizations there were some issues related to the quality of teaching and the quality of equipments used for teaching students. It is significant that educational institutes with greater technological advancements had better results compared to the institutes following the traditional methods and styles of teaching. Similarly, Industrial organizations in the modern world are facing challenges associated with the competitive market and issues related to quality. Though TQM focuses on high quality productivity on a cheaper investment but can-not be implemented in many situations (Morfaw 34). In order to reduce the production cost most of the organizations compromise with the quality of products. The computer making industries are the best examples of organizational issues related to quality. In the emerging electronic market many companies are trying to reduce the price of their product and sell them on cheaper rates but in this regard the quality of the products goes for toss. Organizations must find alternative methods to TQM because it has become an older version of operations management. In order to ensure quality of the products organizations must develop a standard verifying platform based on which customers can be motivated. Conclusion From the above discussion, it is clear that Total Quality Management is an important measure for enhancing the process of production in manufacturing industries and increasing quality of service industries. TQM also plays an important role in the educational organizations. TQM consists of some methodologies based on which it helps in enhancing productivity of organizations. According to the TQM approaches Managers and supervisors must work together for betterment of the lives of labors in the work place. If the work environment is clean and happy the productivity and quality of products would enhance automatically. TQM aims at high quality management and job satisfactions for their employees. According the TQM program employees are the internal suppliers in an organization and they should be given significant priorities. The external suppliers of organizations should also be given importance and they should be paid their shares in appropriate time in order to continue business successfully. Continuation of the improvement is the basic mantra of TQM based on which the management and the employees of an organization act in a positive manner. Business excellence is dependent on the methodologies of TQM however some other incorporation are also essential in the modern world in order to sustain an existing business.
