Hospitality Global Issues An Employment Opportunity Ecity Global is a leading company in the hotel industry in Israel. Ecity is seeking to hire a US Citizen as a Reservation Manager as part of its expansion plans that are to see it increase its regional market share. Headquartered in Jerusalem, Ecity has a staff of 2000 people in the five hotels that are in Israel and is planning to increase the number of these hotels to 7 in the next two years. Join us in our ultimate quest to become the leading provider of quality hotel services in the region. The successful candidate for this post will be charged with handling some of the issues described below: Providing relevant information to potential customers as to the products and services that the hotel provides. Handling the requests of customers that are demanding. Promotion of the hotel’s services to selected companies and other entities as would be requested by the management Attending to the complains that some of the customers may have Facilitating the booking of clients. Auditing of the services provided by the junior staff to confirm that they are in line with the company’s procedures. Charged with training any new staff whenever required. Timely payments small dues like water bills, electricity bills and for other services that the hotel may have hired. Negotiate with suppliers and vendors of some goods and services to ensure that cost of doing business is minimized. Apply to become part of the company that values growth, work, family culture and life balance and enjoy the direct benefits that Ecity offers to its employees. Such benefits include; adequate parking (hard to find in Jerusalem CBD), free gym, medical allowances and many more. Ecity has registered a consistent profit growth over the past three years due to a consistent increase in the number of customers that has been booking in its hotels. Effective management structure has also contributed to this growth with forecasts indicating that more growth in current financial year. Without a doubt, this is the kind of a winning team that anyone would love to be a part. It is critical for teamwork to be since in the provision of catering services. The manager will ensure departments coordinate to achieve customer satisfaction. Even if the cooks do an excellent job of preparing quality meals. If the waiters do not serve it in a professional manner, the effort is futile. There is a need to treat other employees with respect despite the nationalities or religions that they may belong to. There are all sorts of nationalities and religions that are in the work force of Ecity hotels, and as is always the case, it is vital to keep learning from each other. Lastly, it is important to embrace personal and collective responsibility, this helps the employees to challenge each other professionally and the person to be in the post above must be willing to demonstrate this quality. Integrity At Ecity hotels, we value people who understand the value of integrity. The manager is to foster this by leading with an example. Communication is a vital part of integrity hence there is a need to foster respect in the interactions. Since the manager is the custodian and ensures that records are in a good condition, it is vital that such information is not misrepresented or exaggerated. The manager is with negotiating with the vendors, and other service providers who partner in helping the hotel run on a normal day to day basis integrity is key in all these dealings. Excellence The manager is expected to always striving to do the best at all times. Decision making is a requirement quality that is at Ecity. The post needs someone that can work and deliver with limited supervision. This means that a person must exemplify great commitment and diligence and should be the type that can deliver on the expectations with minimal follow-up. The value of excellence is in all our dealings in the hotel service and has seen us become the favorite hotel for many in Israel. Anyone willing to become part of our dynamic team should also portray the same quality of excellence in leadership and service. Overview of the state of Israel Culture In Israel, most people tend to speak at a closer range than what most Americans may be accustomed to. A lot of physical contacts, touching and gestures are part of how people communicate in Israel, this is something that a visitor would expect. The most common greeting is ‘Shalom’ most often a handshake accompanies the greeting. A handshake is a great gesture of friendship and should never be turned down. In general, the business environment in Israel is much slower than in most developed nations of the world. One is expected to exercise tolerance and patience when transacting with the Israelis at their slow pace but always be straightforward and genuine. Many Israelis are at times emotional and often confrontational negotiators; this is something to be noted. It is important to have business cards printed in English. One may include slight touch of Hebrew but keep in mind that most Israelis prefer not to brag about their titles and would expect the same of you. Be cautious on the following: Avoid using the ‘thumbs up’ gesture, most find it offensive in Israel. Some conversations would be a no go zone, for example, religion, sex, Palestine and the amount of US aid to Israel. Women travelers are however advised not to initiate any form of physical contact during conversations. In an argument with an Israeli, you may be compelled to agree with their point of view. Some tend to be very opinionated. Checklist for the trip There are different classes of visas that are available to anyone that wants to visit Israel. Some of these include the immigration, clergy, and visitor’s work visa among others. In this case, the selected candidate would need to apply for a work visa. Israel has agreements with many nations on visa exemptions of up to 90 days. Such a visa would however not be ideal in this case since the person would be required to be in Israel for an extended period. The work visa is for a person that would be approved for a given duration to reside in Israel about the nature of the work he or she would be undertaking. The fee for the visa is payable as of when the application is made to the ministry of Interior. Upon approval, a B/1 work visa will be issued after the applicant is and has submitted the following documents: A duly filled visa application form Results of some medical examinations for example AIDS, tuberculosis and hepatitis. Two passports photos. A certificate of good conduct and clearence from Israeli Imigration department. Cost of living. Israel is a thriving democracy with some of the highest life expectancies in the world. The living standards in Israel is not that different in some aspects with the cost of living in the Unite States. Some of the prices that are lower in the United States include consumer prices by 5.63% and the restaurant prices by 21.87%. On the other hand, rent prices are lower in Israel by 15.76%, groceries by 15.23% and consumer prices by 0.16% as compared to the United States.
