In this case laws are made to govern cities and to restrict skyscrapers from being built to a certain height. Transport also becomes a consideration when planning a city so that structures like roads, parking lots. Also the restriction of residential homes in a city is part of the planning process. The environment of the city is also a key aspect to look at when planning on the city. This comes in because of trash and how the proper disposal of trash is put in place. Climate is also a factor to consider when planning for a city. These are just a few of the things to consider when planning a city (Harry, 2011). Soul city is the first city to get assistance from the federal government. This is the city that has fought so much on the improper urbanization that has become a problem in almost all the nations of the world. The city was under construction during the early 1970’s and got funded with $ 14 million in the year 1972. The soul city is located near the community of Manson in Warren County, North Carolina. Warren County is part of the Kerr-Tar region. The region lacks a major metropolitan area. The largest town in this region is Henderson and it is ten miles from the soul city. Soul city is a very different city compared to the others since it does not depend on the population to use its services since it is a new community. The city has got its way of doing things and it does attract very many people to invest in the region in order to grow its economy and catch up with the rest of the cities In terms of development. In return this would increase their incomes and would bring to the employers a better quality life. This would put a lot of hope to very many individuals who had lost hope in life and bring forth better citizens who will build the city with a good heart and this will make the economy of the country to have more changes. The basis of giving the workers a good working and favorable conditions is to motivate the worker to work more and give good inputs in order to get better outputs thereafter that will benefit the living standards of the individuals and also offer the country a good economy that will be able to sustain the people. But the city has got no limitation it welcomes all people from all the races and from other different regions. The special emphasis has been laid mostly to the minority. It is also viewed that most of the occupants of the town will be young in the age bracket of 25-45. Most of the facilities have been built roads, water system and health facilities. There has also been housing plans that have been coordinated to make a change in economic development. Though the soul city is located in an area that is depressed this is not a hindrance to the development since there are advantages that come with this. With its land terrain low and rolling there are some streams and fishponds have been established in some of the areas. There is the evergreen landscape and the soil is good enabling the city to have a very conducive environment. The planners have enhanced a good transport network. There is a railway line that passes through the soul city. The Kerr Lake provides the city with abundant water. The city is also connected to metropolitan markets that that are in the eastern seaboard. With the good conditions of weather in this region the city can host most of the outdoor games. The city is also well equipped when it comes to the matters of the education because there are three major universities which are located at the state capitol which is only a one and a half hours’ drive. Education has become a fundamental thing in all the societies in order to achieve a good economy. Most of the jobs require proper skills when working and so more learned people are needed to attend to most of the jobs that require much attention and sensitivity like in the health industry it requires people who have done well in this area. Education has become a backbone of the growing economy (Harry, 2011). The advantages of this growing city are well seen since the manufactures of different products that are based at the city have been able to cut down expenses of expenditure. This will provide soul city with a good potential in terms of the growth of the town. This will enable this city to make an improvement as an industrial urban center. There will be a positive increment in the demand of goods that are manufactured in the area since. The city will benefit the country at large since it will try to free racism since most of the investors and people moving to this city are from all the races and with all this people meeting at one point with same objectives the issue of racism will be solved. The other aim of the city is to give opportunity to the minority to have self-development. The goal of the city is to improve the quality of the lives of the rural areas. Another goal is to give services to the people skills that will help them be able to be self-independent and fight the poverty that is mostly experienced mostly in the rural setting. Soul city has become a successful city and has set up a good example to most of the cities that are in the process of growing. Most of them have copied the ideas gotten from the city. Generally we can say that the success of the city has not come that easily but the efforts of the residents of this area have contributed in a big way in the growth of the city. The proper management of the funds allocated for this project ha as well helped to keep it stable. The achievements of the city have been extended to the country at large (Harry, 2011). Both the cities are large and have modern infrastructures and many skyscrapers. When it comes to the geography of the two countries it is different. Seoul lies between allies and is also surrounded by mountains. On the other hand Beijing lies on a flat plain. The geography of a town has got a very great impact when it comes to the growth of a city. It gives the direction on how all the structures in a city and how they should be built. The geographical nature of the two cities is very different and so even the nature of the buildings is affected. South Korea’s the 26th largest country in terms of population so we can come to a conclusion that it is densely populated having in mind that it is at 108th position according to its size. The capital city of this country is Seoul and is also densely populated (Harry, 2011). Seoul is the capital city of South Korea and has got a population of 10.5 million people. The Seoul’s’ initiative on the green growth was proposed by the Ministry of Environment of South Korea. This happened at the fifth ministerial conference on Green growth .its main aim is to address the problems that are related to green growth. This initiative provides the cooperation of the region to achieve green growth. The green growth works with cultural, social and economic features. It comes up with laws and policies that govern the city. Some of those policies are: capacity-building, pilot projects, promotion of the green growth and policy consultations. The main aim of the movement was to cub the drastic changes that have been experienced in weather. The effects of these changes have been felt because of the global warming that has taken place in the whole world. The green growth initiative is to turn the world from brown to green. This is being achieved by giving out policies to the institutions and other systems on how to achieve the green growth and making sure that these policies are implemented and followed to the letter. The problems encountered by the Korean government when trying to establish the green growth is that the traditional emphasis on quantitative growth still exists. What people should be enlightened to know is that peace, freedom, natural beauty and good environment is more important than all the other material things. Green growth is a set of strategies that that are aimed for economic growth and environmental progress. In the past times Korea cared more about the economy but now they understand that the environment is equally important. Now the Koreans are enjoying the pure water, uncontaminated food and the clean air (Harry, 2011). Comparing Transportation System between Beijing, China and Soul, Korea Beijing are not stable they have got different colors. The Seoul’s subway is marked well at the exit of the subway but in Beijing they use letters at the subway exit points. In Seoul the pedestrians have a system that is very organized. The pedestrians follow the signs and they walk when they are supposed to and stop when they are required to. Traversing is not a common thing. In Beijing the pedestrians ignore the signals. The road transport system in china was built during the war with Japan in the 1930’s presently china has expanded its highways. In the year 2005 china had a network of approximately 3.3 million kilometers. In the year 2002 china had 12 million passenger cars and busses that were in operation and another 8.1 million cars excluded. In Seoul the highways are termed to be free ways. Almost all these freeways are classified as toll highways. The tolls are collected using an electronic toll collection. The length of the Seoul road network was 89,989 km in 1998.The air travel in Korea was established in 1962 but there before there had been a private airline. In the year 2008 the airline served 2.164 million passengers and another 1.249 million passengers internationally. Construction of Seoul largest airport, which is called Incheon International Airport, was fully completed in the year 2001. It is located at the capital city, Seoul. Come 2007 the airport was serving 30 million passengers a year. Seoul has also got other airports for example the Gimpo International Airport. In the year 2007 China had 467 airports. Shanghai, China has the 2nd largest amount of traffic in air in China. The leading airport with the greatest number of passengers annually is Beijing Capital International Airport which is at the northeast of Beijing. By the year 2003 according to the china’s civil aviation sector they had carried almost 2.2 million tons of freight and 126.3 trillion passengers per kilometer (Harry, 2011). China has got 110,000 kilometers of water comprising of the lakes, rivers and the streams all combined. It is the country that has gotten the most waters in the world. In the year 2003 it had ferried 1.6 trillion tons of freight and had taken 6.3 trillion passengers per kilometers to over 5,100 ports. Seoul is best known for its great skills in the building of ship. It controls a large merchant fleet which is used to serve the neighboring countries such as the Middle East countries, China and Japan. There is 1,609 km of water that is found in the South America. The ferries in this country provide services to the western and the southern islands that are in the country. The country is well known for its ports and harbors for example Busnan, Uslan and Masan. In China there are over 2000 ports. 130 of these 2000 ports are able to offer international port services. China has got over 16 major ports where more than 50 million tons are shipped. In the year 2003 the coastal port of china is estimated to have handled around 2.1 billiont9ons of freight. The railroad transport system in Seoul mainly began in the year 2004. In this country the largest railway operator is Korail. In china railway becomes a major mode of transport. In the year 2011 the railways of china had carried 2.947 billion tonne – kilometers of freight. Traffic in railway lines in china is common thing since it has got a very big population. The rail system in china is developing and getting more advanced at a fast rate. It is the home to the third world largest rail network. In 2010 it was 91,000 kilometers long. 47% of the rail system here is electrified. The pipeline system in Seoul is owned by the Daehan Oil Pipeline Corporation. The construction of this pipeline was completed in the year 1992. The length of the pipeline was 900 km. In China by the year 2006 China had 22,664 km of gas pipelines and 15,256 of oil pipelines and 6,106 km for the refined products. China’s pipelines transported 219.9 million tones of petrol (Harry, 2011). Beijing is more advanced as compared to Seoul city since we have come to see that the infrastructure in the transport system is better as compared to Seoul city. Most of the transport facilities were introduced in Beijing before coming to Seoul city. But the Seoul city is also growing at a fast rate and we come to find out that the Seoul subway system is more advanced than that of Beijing. Seoul city is ranked as one of the cities that are developing at a high rate. It has achieved most of the fundamental things and is almost fighting with the developed cities. The lessons that should be learned from Beijing government by Seoul Metropolitan Government after the comparison of the city planning, green policy between Beijing China and Seoul Korea are as follows: There are a lot of advances that have been discussed above and these changes have lead to a good outcome to the countries responsible. The changes are very positive and have brought growth in the economy of the developed countries. The other thing that the metropolitan government should learn from these problems is the methods that have been used to make it possible for the development to take place successfully. The metropolitan government should also seek strategies from some of these developed cities such as Beijing. The green growth project should be taken to be a good example of a developing country. The advantages of keeping the city green have well been discussed and contrasted. This is to help in the near future since we have touched on the problems related to the pollution of the ozone layer (Harry, 2011). In order to achieve a good economy the government should make people to understand that a good environment is better as compared to the economy which is equally important. People should be enlightened that in order to build the economy of a country the environment should first be clean and preserved to create a good working condition for the nations’ working people. Other lessons to be learned by the metropolitan government is the infrastructure that is found in the neighboring country that is Beijing with its proper infrastructure and try to copy some of them. The comparison has shown the difference between the two so it is easy to evaluate what needs to be implemented. We also get to review the steps used and applied in the soul city which went through many processes before getting to where it is now. The methods of attaining the development of the soul city are well discussed. We get also to learn about how the marginalized groups and places have been able to get on their feet economy wise and be able to compete with other developing metropolitan towns. City planning has helps to manage well the city and allocate each and every activity to where it belongs. Planning of a city helps to know the state of a city when it comes to environment and the best way to do that.
