VEHICLES MODIFICATION WORKSHOP (VMW) Jasim Mohamed Al Ali BMGN N490 - Industry Project John Politis DMC-HCT Dubai 16-03 Introduction In the year 2012, motorists who had modified their vehicles in Abu Dhabi faced the risk of losing their cars. This modification included; increasing the sound of their exhaust pipes. The initiative targeted motorists who illegally modified their cars and motorcycles in order to increase their speed (gulfnews.com, 2012). The police fear that if these modifications are done incorrectly, there may be an increase in the rate of accidents (gulfnews.com, 2012).

This means that the UAE needs to have vehicle modification workshops that would comply with the traffic rules and safety. Very good, Is there any other company doing modification. It a German owned in Al Quoz few years ago The scope of this study will be on the best way of starting a vehicle modification workshop and on strategies that would make sure that the VMW will comply with the traffic rules and safety. This study will cover all the public vehicles and how they can be modified according to the safety standards.

My Proposal Research Questions The main objective of this study is to analyze how to set up a VMW in the UAE that are in compliant with the traffic and safety rules. In conducting this research, the specific research questions will include; 1. To analyse how the current VMW operate in the UAE. 2. To analyse the current traffic and safety rules and how to incorporate these in a VMW business. 3. To do a feasibility setting up a VMW business. 4. To analyse the UAE market for VMW. Research Methodology Data collection methods to be used during this study will include; 1.

Questionnaires Questionnaires will form the primary method of data collection. I will design the questionnaires with the help of the lecturer. The questions in the questionnaires will be closed ended to limit the amount of data collected. This will in turn lessen the time that will be taken to process and analyse the data. The study group will include fifteen people who will be chosen on a random basis (DENSCOMBE, 2007). 2. Observation Observation will form a secondary form of data collection which will help in analyzing the accuracy of data collected using the questionnaires.

This method cannot be completely relied but will increase some accuracy. This process will involve observing how vehicles are currently being modified to see if they comply with the traffic rules. The vehicles that will be observed will be those from the respondents in administering questionnaire. However, the number is expected to be less than fifteen because respondents will be selected randomly and therefore, it cannot be assumed that all will have vehicles. 3. Interviews Those who will be involved in filling the questionnaires, will be interviewed on their views on this business, especially if they think that such a business would bring value for the money invested. 4. Published books and reports and E-newspapers Published books and reports and e-newspapers will be useful when getting background information on the study.

This information will be related to the best ways to start such a business, including the financial requirements, the legal requirements. Problems and Limitations Challenges expected while conducting this study is that the respondents may take too much time to fill the questionnaires. This may delay the data analysis process and delay the whole study. To overcome this problem, respondents will be given a clearly stated deadline for submitting the questionnaire. very good The time allocated for data collection will include extra time in case of delays.

This problem will also be reduced by not asking too many questions in the questionnaires (BEISKE, 2007). ok Another challenge may be the unwillingness of respondents to be involved in the study. They may not be willing to provide information that will be useful in the study or they may give information that does not give a real opinion. During administration of the questionnaires, the respondents need to be told about the importance of their information to the study. Data Analysis When data has been collected, it will be analysed using the excel program and then the data that has been analyzed will be presented in the form of charts and graphs.
