Management Ethics AFFILIATION: Management Ethics Reflection about Management Ethics Management Ethics has been a very interesting course in my professional study life. The management ethics course can be categorized as an integral course for any business school. The management ethics course allowed me to understand the importance of ethics for any profit or non profit organization. Many types of ethical situations and challenges are faced by individuals in their personal and professional life.

Knowledge on dealing with the ethical challenges in this course helped me to deal with all these circumstances in an ethical way (Bowie and Werhane, 2004). While conducting management operations, ethical dilemmas and challenges may emerge in various management departments of the organizations such as finance and marketing department, human resource department and others as such (Yetmar, 2008). The management ethics course educated me in dealing with these situations in the right way. Unethical behavior in organizations by the managers and employees may lead toward business damages such as damaging the image of the organizational culture, may cause legal risks due to unethical behavior and also may lead to unsatisfied employees in organizations (Elms et. al, 2006).

When managers and other professionals possess knowledge on ethical aspects of dealing in business, it becomes easier for the professional to make judgments and act accordingly (Trevino and Nelson, 2011). Ethical business practices allow professionals to demonstrate ethical dealings both in the domestic market as well as the international market (Aasland, 2004). The course of management ethics has given an introduction of all the basic concepts and values involved in ethics. Moral issues have been highlighted in this course and this widens the knowledge base of the students (Jaques, 2003).

Ethics and morality have a strong relationship with each other. Each country has its own way of conducting business operations and the management course highlighted the importance of cultural beliefs and its relation to ethics. Norms and beliefs of each business country differ and hence it may impact the way decisions are taken in each country regarding business and other ethical concerns (Sison, 2000). Corporate social responsibility may have different values from business to business (Michaelson, 2010).

Consumer rights and law of each country may impact the ethical judgments taken by professionals. Tactfully dealing in ethical matters is an important aspect that has been taught in the management ethics course. The judgments or decisions that are taken by the managers at any level have a tendency of impacting many other individuals and societies at large. Therefore ethical management behavior needs to be demonstrated by the managers and directors of any organization (Rudnicka, 2005). The element of integrity is highly expected and demanded by majority of the consumers worldwide.

All the business practices in any business environment should be conducted in an honest and transparent way so that the consumers are satisfied with the business operations in their community or country (Quarterly, 2010). The management ethics course allowed the students to understand the importance of the communication of core values for the managers, employees as well as the society. All these are interlinked with each other and the behavior of one tends to impact the other. Application of Management Ethics Learning The ethical theories, morality and privacy issues in ethics have allowed me to develop a broader understanding of management ethics in business.

Knowledge on these topics have allowed me to read in between the lines and also to think out of the box while reading any ethical case or reviewing any scenario that required ethical decisions and judgements. While handing out with friends or going to any seminar with friends, I try to bring out the ethical part in everything. The course of ethics has taught me to view things beyond the obvious of what seems right or wrong. The ethics course has helped me to develop the element of ethical behaviour in my personality.

Using What I have Learnt in Profession/Business Life In my future professional and business life, the course of management ethics will pay a vital role. At the management level, the managers need to perceive the ethical issues from different dimensions. The managers need to be empathetic as well, they need to be focused positively at the managerial role and deal with all the employees under them in a systematic way. Managers need to ensure that the mission, vision and objectives of the organization are achieved according to requirements and to achieve this, they need to manage the employees.

Managers need to ensure that all work place activities are running under proper control and balance. Employees are provided with all necessary resources. They need to ensure that there is no workplace conflicts arising and any issues regarding work or employee should be dealt in an ethical manner. Being a future manager, this course has educated me in respecting the privacy of other employees as well as copyrights of the organization. Confidential and private files of the organization should not be disclosed by any of the employee, be it the manager of the organization or the subordinate of the organization.
