Since 2008, Dung has been in charge of a loan executive for NamA bank. Her time in the loan department has shown her to be a hardworkingemployee. Before she joined the bank, Dung worked as a trainee for one semester as part of her bachelor’s degree in finance. During that time period, it was noticed that she was disciplined and responsible in all her work duties. Without fail, she always completed her projects before they were due. Her high work ethic allows her to develop professional skills that will one day result in a promotion within the bank.

Dung is well-liked liked by all of the other employees, and this shows in how confident she displays herself in the workplace. Her colleagues have particularly noticed her capability of dealing with bad debtors. Whenever a customer complains due to a lack of understanding, Dung always uses simple words to help convey her message across. In addition to this, Dung always replies to any emails in a timely manner. Dung’s performance in her job has always been excellent. Each quarter she has been judged to be the best staff member by her fellow peers.

One such instance of excellence was when the bank’s systems needed to be updated. The bank had decided to go with Flexcube, which is an Indian software company that deals with bank management. Because this software had to be used on a new platform, a 10-month changeover period was required so that the employees could make the necessary preparations. To achieve this, teamwork was required between all the different departments. Experience in this area was vital for someone to be able to oversee the changes.

The Board of Directors elected to choose Dung to take over this new position. The reason why she was chosen for this position was because she displayed all the necessary qualities that the role required. However, Dung was not too keen on this job as she was already comfortable in her current position, which paid a decent enough wage. To make the necessary changes required for the new role, Dung had to change her mindset from a customer service representative to one of a researcher in the Flexcube Core Banking department.

This was a struggle for her, as her work performance decreased and she felt stressed due to her lack of understanding about the tasks that her new position entailed. It was uncomfortable for her to learn new things, as she was used to the old system. In addition to this, the time constraints for this project began to take a toll on her. Diagnosis The difficulties that Dung faced can be identified by using the A-B-C Behavior Modification model. The first thing that can be mentioned is her poor attitude to her work.

Once she changed jobs, her work output decreased significantly when compared to her previous position. A simple reason can be put down to this. Dung was too comfortable in her old job and only displayed confidence because she knew what she was doing. Once she moved up, it was like being thrown into the sea. Another thing was that her boss placed many restrictions on her; she couldn’t even make decisions without checking with her superior first. This affected her confidence greatly. The second problem that can be seen with Dung is in how she interacted with other people.

Her old position involved lots of communication with potential clients. She enjoyed this very much. When she moved jobs, she spent most of her time in front of a computer with tight supervision from her superiors. More than this, she had the pressure of finishing the project within a 10-month timeframe. Her superiors tried to overextend the employees and did not offer any incentive to help them along. Many of the employees were not satisfied with how they were being treated by the company. Top management was simply out of touch with reality.

They may not admit it, but they were taking advantage of the workers. The company needs to recognize the value of its employees and compensate them appropriately. This will help the project to be completed faster and also to a higher standard. Prescription Dung was not the only employee to express concern while working on this project. The company executives were aware that something needed to be done to fix the ongoing problems. Two separate plans were formulated to solve the problem. The first one was to send Dung back to her old position and replace her with an outsider.

This seemed an obvious choice, but it is actually not well thought-out. To recruit a new employee may take considerable amounts of time. Once he or she is found, it will take even longer to get them up to speed on the specifics of the project. The length of time needed for this makes the negatives far outweigh the positives. Because of this, this option is not workable. The other plan was to keep Dung on but offer her and her employees incentives to increase work output. This is a better choice because it allows the project to be completed much faster and will result in better teamwork in order to get the job done.

Action Plan The company executives elected to go with the latter option. To better assist Dung in her work, top management decided to employ a professional expert to guide Dung along. In addition to this, employees with evaluate each other on how well they performed so that compensation can be adequately given out. Also, Dung’s salary will rise each month as the project nears completion. If the project is completed successfully and efficiently, then everyone who is involved will be handsomely compensated and will likely receive a promotion.

Summary The objective of this project was to employ an efficient system, but it seemed to negatively impact the work behavior of the employees. The top management needs to reconsider how they will offer employee benefits so that they project can be completed. If the employees’ demands are not met, then the work output will decrease considerably. The A-B-C Behavior Modification model can be used to determine this. Teamwork is important in any project, so management needs to find ways to help employees to work together.

If employees feel that their manager is taking care of their needs, then they will have no problem in working to a high standard.
