Dear Sir (dean), I would like to apply for your postgraduate in Management Information System I have completed my bachelor’s degree in the same field from the University of Nebraska in Omaha. I currently hold a GPA of 3.182 and will graduate in December this year. My session officially started in 2008 but I also did an intensive English language program with the university. It was a 2 year program which I had to complete as English is not my first language. I am a really competitive student and wish to study for my masters in the same field from your university.

I have been really active in class discussions and hope that I will continue to be such an active student in the future. The languages I fluently speak and work with are English and Arabic. Besides my bachelor’s degree, I also have relevant work experience that differentiates me from other potential students for this course. I have worked at the Royal Saudi Naval Forces for 2 years. I have worked for technical support and civil data entry from the year 2003 to 2005. Working for the Naval forces in this field and this post makes me somewhat different to others in the field.

I have also done volunteer work for my university. I have been very interactive in the university and my name is also place in the Dean’s spring list for 2009. Not many of my friends had their name placed in the honorable list. Besides this, I have also worked as a volunteer. I also feel that there is a need of doing much more than just studying and working for experience. Therefore, I try to make a few changes by doing volunteer work. As a management information system student, I also have several skills which make me a bit more practical than others as I have done practical work in this field, besides theory.

I am quite good with computers. The areas where I prove to be effective are data entries and office work with Excel, Word and PowerPoint. I can say that I am one of those who can type really fast and use these applications effectively. Also, I have a lot of knowledge in advanced programming. Programming via Java is one of the things I can do best. So Java programming is another of my computer skills. I have done several projects while doing my bachelor’s degree. I have been a part of different teams and have worked with them on different projects.

One of the projects was designing a database with my 4 teammates. The software was able to record data about international students’ cultural events and expenses I am not the most intelligent student you will ever find. However, I can proudly say that I am one of those who can multitask quite well. From projects to volunteer work, I can handle multiple tasks at once. I have always been interest in the field of management information system and that is why I have proved myself in the undergraduate level while making projects, working for the Naval Forces and working as a volunteer.

I might not be the best applicant but I can guarantee that I will give my all in your university. Thank you, Mr XYZ
