The concept of human resource management deals with the attraction, recruitment and retention of the workforce in an industry or a company. This recruitment and selection of labor force is performed through a huge selection process, irrespective of the nature of job, in every organization. My areas of interest and specialization include the course of Human Resources Management.Q1. What are the top five career opportunities for your college major?There are numerous opportunities available in the field of human resources management and it is most likely that an individual, well-versed in the field of managing the personnel, will find a good career along with extraordinary compensation, fringe benefits and personal and professional growth.

The top five career opportunities available in this major include:1. Training and development Specialists2. Compensation and benefit Managers3. Human Resource Managers4. Human Resource Consultants5. Placement OfficersAll these careers relate to the training, developing and managing aspect of the labor force in an organization. They cater to an extensive application of all the theories and aspects of the human resource knowledge in a broader aspect. Q2.  Consider job growth, compensation and benefit.

What kind of academic and other experience is typically required to apply for each?Many organizations require a good personal, professional and academic profile in order to recruit people for the position of any skilled job in management designation. For less skilled job or fresh graduates with less or no experience, initial level jobs are offered. On the other hand, those candidates, who possess more experience and have great qualification, are normally offered managerial level jobs in human resource field.

In this case, the Training and development Specialists are required to have basic knowledge of HR, a bachelor’s degree in the required field, and diplomas or certificates in the fields of training and developing the people. This is also performed by the individuals who are specialists in the field of managing people. Compensation and benefits in this designation are on an average level, while the job may be on a contractual basis only.Compensation and benefits Manager is the position of a senior or managerial level.

This position requires a Master’s degree in the relevant field, acquaintance of candidates with the subject of accountancy and finance, and a good amount of long experience. The candidates with extra qualification and certificates are usually preferred for this post. The compensation and benefits may vary form organization to organization; however, the managers are normally given higher salary packages and good non-cash benefits too. These include car, cell phones, laptops and other things.

The Human Resource Managers are normally supposed to have the knowledge and proficient skills in managing the entire unit of labor force in organizations. Beginning from their recruitment and selection and going up to the motivation and appraisal concept, all the factors need to be looked into by the HR Manager. All other sub-departments of Human Resource Management are accountable to the Manager for activates. This position begs the higher rewards, good remuneration and benefits like car, accommodation, etc.

Human Resource Consultants and Placement officers are also hired by the organizations on contractual basis mostly. The candidates for these positions are required to have initial knowledge of hiring, and human resources’ core functions and activities.
