Project Planning and Management Scope of the Project The Carol Web Portal (CWP) is the project perceived and designed for Carol Singer, who works for pop singing duo Val and Tyne Card. This project report will give an overview of the system as it is perceived and will discuss various milestones of the CWP. The software is destined to be a web-based system with several independent modules to be implemented as and when required. These modules include Concert Management Module, Fan Club Module, Inventory Module, Order Management Module and Payroll System. System Stakeholders Following stakeholders are identified for the CWP; a) Carol b) Val and Tyne Card c) Fan Club Members d) Staff e) Website Visitors f) Suppliers Major Milestones a) Requirement Analysis b) System Design Phase-I c) Workflow and Schedules d) Design Phase-II e) Implementation f) Testing g) Training h) Deployment Equipment Requirements As the system is designed to be a complete web portal therefore it has to have following important system components and servers; a) Carol Web Server b) Database server c) Application Server d) Firewall e) 12 Staff PC f) One Printer g) One Scanner Software Requirement The CWP will use visual studio 2005 platform, the frontend will be developed in ASP dotNet, business logic will be implemented using C Sharp and SQL Server 2005 will be used as backend database system for the portal. Contingency Plans The CWP will be developed to sustain many unforeseen circumstances various steps to respond contingency include the availability of Uninterruptable Power Supply system, stand by servers, system maintenance equipment and staff etc. Cost-benefit Analysis The CWP will be complete solution for Carol the singer and it will fully digitize the environment, orders will be placed on line, system generated invoices, fully integrated email system, staff payroll system are some of the important segments of the portal. These systems along with other functionalities will provide value to the system users and will help to establish a paperless environment. Moreover the backups and disaster recovery strategies will ensure prompt system and data recovery. SMART Objectives The CWP is required to support all activities of the Carol Concerts, staff management, fan club management, email management, order and invoice management and other activities related to duo Val and Tyne Card. The success of the system depends on its availability around the clock, functional support for all requisite operations highlighted in the requirement analysis of the system.
