Corporate Gifts 2007 Report Summary The company is looking for 1000 small promotional gifts as well as larger promotional gifts to be customized for the year 2007. The following report provides information about possible suppliers, and gifts available for the price range determined by the purchasing manager. Conclusions and recommendations based on the information gathered are also provided. The purchasing manager has requested options of promotional corporate gifts for the year 2007. These gifts should include the company name as well as the year. A variety of gifts are desired, including around 1000 small gifts with a price range of $1-2 each that can be given to walk-in customers, and several larger gifts, not exceeding $60 a piece, to be presented to managers and larger clients. Possible Suppliers Numerous supplies offer a variety of corporate gifts and business gifts that can be personalized for the company. Three of the suppliers that could meet the needs of our corporation include CoporateSNOBS, My Business Gifts and Branders.com. CorporateSNOBS specialized in more expensive and higher quality gifts, although it also provides some smaller gift options, such as $1 promotional pens. The business transactions with this company can happen online, and the site offers a low price guarantee and no hassle return policy. If the product being purchased requires screen printing for the promotional branding, one color is for free, and additional colors must be paid for. If the company submits the logo artwork, and one hundred or more objects are being ordered, there is no setup charge or design charge. If CorporateSNOBS needs to recreate the artwork, it charges $40. Embroidery and engraving services are also available. My Business Gifts is very similar to CorporateSNOBS, although it provides a different gift selection. It also provides a 100% satisfaction guarantee, lowest price guarantee, and easy return policy. Like CorporateSNOBS, My Business Gifts provides engraving and embroidery options. Branders.com is a better option for low end promotional gifts. It supplies a much wider price range, and has countless trinket gifts around $1-2. Branding.com supplies merchandise from leading brands, such as Champion, Hanes and Swiss Army. It also enables you to ‘see’ the product with your customization on it on screen before you purchase the order. Like the other companies, Branders.com provides a satisfaction guarantee and low cost guarantee. Possible Gifts Branders.com provides “Best Buy” and “Under $1” sections to help corporations looking for small, but customized promotional gifts. These gifts take an average of either 9 or 15 business days to be produced. There are several pen options. A jumbo grip ballpoint pen would cost $.34 or .35, depending on the quantity ordered. An elite grip pen would cost $.48-.50. This pen looks more elegant and pleasing than the jumbo grip. A pen-highlighter combination would cost $.51-.55. Several other pen designs are also available for similar pricing. A more unique gift – a flip open calculator – would cost $1.30-1.45 depending on the quantity ordered. This calculator has a black and silver color scheme, and performs all basic functions. A carabiner aluminum sports bottle would cost $1.99. This product can come in 3 colors – red, blue, and silver. A minimum of 50 bottles from any color must be ordered, so if the company is ordering 100, it would be able to order 1 or 2 colors, but not all three… If ordering 1000, all three colors could be obtained. A bright flashlight with batteries included would cost $1.07-1.16. The flashlight comes in either black or white. A “Snap It” tape measure would cost $0.53-.56. This product comes in a 2 inch case and has both vinyl and metric scales. It is available in blue, purple, white and red. A pedometer with a top view can be obtained for $1.65-1.81 per product. It automatically shuts down when idle, and comes in blue, black, orange and red. A 16 oz stainless steel travel mug costs $1.99. It comes in silver and black, and fits cup holders. Laser engraving or oxidation is available for an additional $.45 per cup. A combination level and tape measure is available for as low as $1.30, if 1000 are ordered. It has a 6 foot long tape measure, a level, a pen and notepad all built in. CorporateSNOBS provides various gifts that could qualify for the larger gifts desired by the purchase manager. Some of these include the following: Corporate gift baskets. A Godiva Chocolate gift box, a Soho cookie and candy gift basket, a Cabana Bay bath set gift box, a Cheese Board gift pack, travel kit gift pack, and scent gift pack all fall within the upper price range set by the purchase manager, falling between $40 and $60. Other similar gift baskets, both edible and non edible, fall within the same range. Personalized paperweights, including a Mahogany Star paperweight, a Crystal Heart paperweight, a Crystal Magnifier paperweight and a Crystal Pyramid paperweight fall between $20 and $40. A “Book of Time” clock and photo frame costs $49, and a gold onyx clock and photo frame costs $59.99. Quality pens with pen holders or cases can also be obtained for a range from $20-40. These products also take around 2 weeks. The prices shown are for the products and a simple, one color printing. Additional colors and/or engraving will imply additional costs. There is also a $80 charge for setting the logo. This is a onetime base cost. My Business Gifts presents a similar selection of gifts as CorporateSNOBS, although it does not provide the same gift basket selection, and has more personal items, such as cufflinks and cufflink holders, and offers a wider variety of gifts tailored individually toward men or women. The price range is around the same as CorporateSNOBS. Conclusions In conclusion, the corporation has various options in terms of supplier and gifts. The best lower priced gift selection is at Branders.com. Branders does not have the same quality and variety of upper end gifts, however, as the other providers. CorporateSNOBS and My Business Gifts both have adequate options for the upper end gifts. Considering that CorporateSNOBS has more general gifts that would be appropriate for both men and women, or for a company office, it would probably meet the needs of the company better. By using these suppliers, the purchasing manager can obtain all of the customized gifts, both low end and high end, within two weeks and within the set budget. The lower end gifts, depending on his selection, will cost between $500 and $2000 in total. The total of the upper end will depend on which price range he selects and whether he orders a combination of gifts, or just multiple copies of one. Recommendations I would advise ordering 1000 lower end gifts from Branders.com. Considering that pens are rather common promotional trinkets, and the tape measures, etc. have a stronger masculine appeal and the sports bottle has an athletic appeal, I would either order 1000 flashlights, 1000 calculators, or a mix of the more specialized gifts, such as 250 sports bottles, 250 measuring tapes, 250 flashlights and 250 calculators. With this combination, different customers could receive the gift most appropriate for them. For the upper end gifts, I would advice using CorporateSNOBS. If the gifts are meant to be distributed at various times throughout the year, I would advise not ordering edible gift baskets, as these could get stale. Any of the other gifts mentioned, such as paperweights and clocks, are appropriate and affordable. References Business Gift Ideas. (2010). My Business Gifts.
