PROJECT MANAGEMENT Introduction I am the project manager of the Project Save Miner that is initiated after the problems happened with the project Miner by Cold Stone Minerals. Initially the project minor was lead by the Alfred and his team. Now company Director has appointed me as a new project manager for this project. Here my basic aim is to save the project from the failure and give it new life. This report will identify main problems, risk and steps that we will take to complete this project successfully. 1-Current Situation In this section I will outline the main hurdles and problem that project is currently facing and main hurdles in its way for its successful completion. The biggest and main problem we are facing now is the very close deadline of this project that will be expired after one month. After this, we will declare the project a failure and ask for their project contract investment that is £1,300,000 back from SNE Heavy Equipment. So the main problem is short deadline of the project. In this situation we have to complete the whole task within one month that includes the overall system troubleshooting and minerals detection accuracy. The next main issue we are facing is regarding the failure of the system to find a vein; none of the 12 identified so far had turned other than sludge and sand. This was costing SNE Heavy Equipment thousands of dollars a day as the invoicing can only be done on successful discovery of the minerals. Cold Stone Minerals are unhappy, as months have gone by with the drill crew mining in the wrong places. So here we have the basic problem regarding the algorithm inefficiency regarding the detection of the accurate place for drilling. Here we are also facing the problem regarding the team’s inability to fix the problems. They were working for the last 7 months straight in Aberness trying to get the project back on track. But till now no big success can be achieved. Here I have also accessed that we also have no further budget available for this project, company director has committed to invest in this project if I would be able to successfully influence the situation. So overall conclusion of the whole discussion regarding the current situation, we have less time, budget and resources for the successful completion of this project. We are also facing the problem regarding the lack of technical capabilities regarding the fixation of the over problems of the inaccurate results. We are facing the risk of the project failure, if these happen then Cold Stone Minerals will declare the failure of project ask for the repay of £1,300,000 from SNE Heavy Equipment. Here we have really very critical situation regarding the on time project completion and results accuracy. We are also facing the less enthusiastic feeling from the project technical (developer) team. So the project is in a really critical condition now. 2-Project Organization Now I will present the structure chart and a communication, responsibility matrix that will show the relationships between the parties for the project "Save Miner". Structure chart Below is the structure chart of the "Save Miner" project. Here I will outline the main project step and events. Technical out sourcing development Expertise Figure 1:- Structure Chart Responsibility Matrix This section is about the responsibility matrix of the Save Miner" project, here I will outline the main project task and the personal responsible for there management. Here we need to conduct a meeting with Alfred and his team, to gather as much information as we need for main problem assessment. As we know that the project risk management looks for to anticipate and deal with doubts that intimidate the objectives and schedule of a project. The risks can comprise problems of parts quality and material; stoppages in delivery of adequate resources to assemble project requirements; budgetary and workers transforms; and, imperfect research or knowledge of the project manager. These risks guide speedily to holdup in release dates and financial plan overages that would be able to harshly weaken assurance in the development and in the project manager (Martin et al, 2004). I need to deal with the conflict through the conflict resolution skills: supporting in declaration of some project disputes consequently that the project group associates all sense fraction of the procedure and desire to continue concerned in the project. I will try to access the main dispute among the team members or on some technical problem, so that we can handle that problem for the better project management. I will also require the effective negotiation skills those are also important for project manager in such critical situation. Through this we will be able to facilitate in the upholding associations by people who are concerned in the project. Here I will require work out methodical approaches of project management that are well-organized, decrease project risks, and are elastic and helpful of the individual conditions of more risky projects. By applying the above given skills I will try to discover the main problem regarding the effective project management and administration. In the meeting with Alfred and his team I will try to discover the main hidden facts behind the system development. I will take them in confidence and try to catch the main problems that are behind the better project execution and management. In this way I will be able to find out that if the project hurdles are due to some technical problem or due to some lack of expertises. By this technique I will make the decision regarding the recruitment of new team members or some outsourcing to handle the project. 4-Project Initiation Document EXECUTIVE SUMMARY In this report I will present the main project information regarding the “Project Save Miner” that is initiated after the problems happened with the project Miner by Cold Stone Minerals.
