Download file to see previous pages Researchers and scholars have put forward the theories that indicate the significance of developing a relationship between organizational personnel in the host country and the expatriates since it helps them in gaining necessary knowledge about their new socio-cultural and business environments2. The organizational ‘insiders’ of the host country which comprises of staff members, employees, supervisors, and co-workers, act as reservoirs of information which is important for the newcomers to learn and understand in order to work effectively and efficiently in their new environments3. As an outsider, the pressure of working on an international assignment in a completely unfamiliar environment causes significant stress and pressure and poses challenges to the visitors/expatriates that might affect their ability to lead, communicate and transfer information in an efficient and effective manner.

Fostering everyday social interactions with the employees or workers in the host country leads to an exchange of valuable information which helps the expatriates to gain an understanding of the social and cultural values of the host country which ultimately proves to be useful in making appropriate managerial decisions and enhance their persuasive and convincing skills through lucid communication. The gradual development of an understanding of the host country’s cultural and working environment helps the expatriates in making well-informed decisions and is likely to reduce the failure rates to a significant extent. Besides, it also helps them in overcoming social barriers, through persistent social interactions, and gain a better understanding of the socio-cultural factors that influence product purchase decision making among the local consumers, which further assists their decision making. ...Download file to see next pagesRead More
