First Number Management Science Test QUESTION SIMPLE DESCRIPTIVE STATS a) Suppose you are given the following data on HW Scores = [75, 80, 97] Find the following calculations by hand and interpret the values:i) Mean (75+80+97)/3= 84Mean is a simple average values selected set of numbers and quantities. ii) Median The measurement of central tendency is denoted as Median. Basically, Median is represents the mid value of a set of data. Based on the provided value set it can be knowledgeable that the numbers of observations in the set is odd.

In this regard, the median will be 80. iii) Standard Deviation (SD)Therefore, the value of SD is 9.42 b. If you are given the following data fill in the blank based on what type of data it is: Quantitative (interval/ratio) or Qualitative (nominal/ordinal)VariablesMeasureClassification??HW Score Percent 0 - 100 Qualitative - NominalStudent Intended Degree BS, BA, MS, MA, etc Qualitative - NominalJob Type Teacher, analyst, accountant, etc Qualitative - NominalStudent ID A 6 digit number that has values 0-9 for each digit Quantitative-RatioQUESTION 2 – DESCRIPTIVE STATSSuppose you are given the ages of students in a class: Age = [26 41 43 28 41 43 26 24 40 22 34 34 23 27 32 44 31 42 32 40]a.

What type of shape do you see? Explain → think of skewed vs. symmetricThe result of the test scores as observed from the above depicted histogram will show the distribution of the sets, which is left skewed (Powell and Baker 200).

QUESTION 4 – MULTIPLE REGRESSIONSuppose you are given the following regression output for predicting volume.a) Using the model results (red box), determine if any of the variables specifically help to predict volume. Explain. In order to predict the volume, selection of height is more significant, as it is closer to 1. It is also observed that P-value of the height is 0.014490974. If the value of height is less than 1, it implies a strong relationship. The value of height is suitable for predicting the volume. b) Use your coefficients to predict volume if the diameter of an item is 10 units and the height is 100 units.

You must create a regression equation from the coefficients above to do this. Write out your equation first and then calculate predicted volume from that equation.Regression Equation = Diameter* 10 < Height* 100 = 4.71*10 < 0.34*100 = 47.1 < 34By using co-efficient it can be identified that the value of volume is greater in terms of computing to diameter than height (Powell and Baker 200). QUESTION 5– KNN ALGORITHMa) Using the KNN algorithm for k =9, predict what type of animal should be? Explain.Let K = 9, with 6 blue diamonds and 7 red circles.

Therefore, the animal should be in red circles, which represents the cat. Therefore, it reflects that the choice of k is not arbitrary, but it was noted as an important part of the KNN algorithm. In this regard, there is an entirely different algorithm for selecting the optimal K. b) If you decided to use a decreasing weighting system (ie if you are close you put more emphasis on the point, if you are far then it would carry less weight) explain how this might influence your answer to (a).

In order to evaluate the weighting system for identifying the identity of the animal there are two types of processes, which can be select. Delivering greater emphasis to the point nearest circle of the face has been selected, where 5 red circles and 4 blue diamonds. Therefore, the animal will be cat. On the other hand, for carrying less weight, for identifying the actual result the entire diagram has been selected, where 14 red circles and 15 blue diamonds are presented. Therefore, the animal will be dog (Powell and Baker 200).
