Organization, Timing and Personal Accountability First, I would like to apologize for my unacceptable behavior and promise that I will take this course seriously and I will not repeat this mistake again. I understand the consequences of my ignorance and I appreciate that you have given me a second chance. I forgot to turn in my syllabus contract since I had a lot in my mind. I also thought that due to the simplicity of the exercise I would do it any time. As such, I did not prioritize due to the simplicity of the exercise. Again, accept my sincere apologies and promise I will henceforth take this course very seriously. Lack of prioritizing will affect my career in business since I will not know when and where to concentrate my efforts. As such, this will be an obstacle in my career. Lack of priorities may make it hard for me to balance different aspects of my life. Be it social life, work life and even family life. I will end up wasting a lot of time on things that are not important and neglect the important things (like in this case where I forgot to hand in my syllabus contract). This will affect my work schedule and as such, I may be late in submitting critical projects, which may end up making me lose my job or worse of all, make me spoil my professional career. In order to make sure I do not repeat the same mistake twice, I will use the following strategies. I will make a “things to do list” that will enable me prioritize my tasks from the most important to the least important. This will help me avoid procrastination since I will include in the “to do list” when the tasks are due. I also plan to set my own personal goals. These will guide me in time management as well as give me a clear vision that I will work towards. My personal goal for this course will be to work extra hard and submit my assignments on time. I also want to have a clear strategy on how will manage distractions. Distractions make me lose a lot of time when performing tasks and affect my ability to concentrate. I will also be dividing large tasks into smaller tasks and avoid many commitments. I will also create a clear timeline of how I will be scheduling my tasks. This will help me manage time as I will be scheduling to complete the most important tasks when am energized and a lot of bonus time. I will also avoid procrastination, multitasking and ensure that I take a break when performing large tasks. Organization, personal accountability and timeliness can make a business successful. These pillars are important for any business and are the pillars of a successful business. Organization is important for any business as it helps a business run effectively and efficiently. Good organizational skills will help a business save time, as they will organize their documents and have a clear procedure of doing things. Having well-organized files and having a clear way of doing things will help save time as well as reduce the employees stress levels (Boulton). Customers will always feel happier when they are served in record time or when they receive their orders on time. Employees working in an unorganized business will be stressed since they do not know the procedures of the company or how to look for information. They will end up stressed and this will reduce their morale and their work performance. An organized business will also keep track of its finances and this will help avoid any issues with the stakeholders of the business. Timeliness is one of the most important aspects of any successful business. Being always behind time is likely to affect the reputation of a business. Timeliness goes to show that the business cares and respects the customers it serves (Reddy). This will go a long way in establishing a long-term relationship with the customers. Timeliness also goes to show the professionalism of a business. People will perceive the business as being reliable. Timeliness also shows that the business has set high standards of excellence. Customers will look at the business as being the best at what it does. In order to be successful, a business has to have employees who are accountable. This means that their employees will always turn up to work at the stipulated time, complete the tasks assigned to them, and perform their duties assigned to them by their supervisors (Shellenbarger). These are all important for any successful organization. For any business to be successful, the employees have to share accountability in order to achieve the goals of their organization. In addition, accountability promotes effectiveness and productivity among the employees. An employer expects a fresh graduate to be creative and be able to solve problems within the organization. An employer will also expect a graduate to have excellent communication skills. The graduate is also expected to be a good time manager. They also expect graduates to be team players who can thrive under pressure. They expect graduates to be people who want to challenge the status quo and not necessary adopt it (Chiagouris 43). This means that the graduate has to stand out from the crowd. Employers also look for people who are ready to take responsibility for their actions. Lastly, employers look for fresh graduates who can be able to think critically when faced with complex situations. In order to be hired by a good company after graduation, one has to engage in self-marketing strategies (Chiagouris 73). This means that one has to join professional groups and online forums. A graduate also have to be active in the social media platforms like LinkedIn and Twitter. It is through these forums that one can get important contacts that can help them find a job. Networking will enable a graduate to get a job. One should also use the contacts they have very wisely. In order to stand out, a graduate may opt to create a relationship with the experts in their field rather than sending job applications. Employers also look for graduates with experience. This means that the graduate must have taken up an internship in between his or her studies. Internships are usually meant to give a student a chance to put into practice the theory learnt in class. As such, students who have gone on internships stand a better chance of securing jobs (Chiagouris 60). Employers also look at the jobs the graduate had taken up while still on campus. Their previous employers must have given a recommendation letter if the student was hardworking and diligent. If the employment the students had taken up while still in school is related to the job they are applying for then they stand a better chance to be employed. Employers will also consider what the graduate majored in while in school. If the job the graduate is applying for is related to what he/she majored in, then they likely to get the job they are applying for. It is also important to take part in volunteer activities, as employers are usually interested in students who took part in volunteer activities. It is also important that students study hard while in school. Employees also consider the college GPA of the graduates (Chiagouris 56). In order to be hired by a good company, a graduate must have gone for an internship or taken up employment while still in school. This gives the graduate experience in the work environment.
