While they were talking I heard Dr. Paul Terpeluk, the medical director at Cleveland Clinic said that employees choose between exercising and going for lunch ("Wellness Programs in The Workplace"). Well, this also came as a surprise to me, but I thought it is an excellent way to ensure that employees are in good physical health. Question 2 I have had several experiences with a wellness program at the place where I used to work before. One, the company had an on-site gym and equipment, where all employees could gain access without paying any extra charges.

Even though the gym was free, it was still well maintained and had some of the latest gym equipment. The manager also used to encourage everyone to use stairs instead of taking elevators while going to his office. His office was on the 3rd floor.  During the job application process, employees were also required to fill out insurance covers. The company also catered for employee lunches and organic teas and coffee. This was an advantage for me as I was in great shape. Question 3 If I was designing a wellness program for employees in my company, there are several key elements I would put in place to show that the program is fair to all.

One of the many elements in the program would be to design a program that embraces the use of a model that incorporates the aspect of identification, modification, and prevention. In the Crane Chicago Business Magazine, Colias is quick to point that if companies are not keen on implementing wellness programs, productivity suffers.  To avoid this problem, I would ensure that the employees identified the need for the program, determined how to modify problems that arise unexpectedly and work on prevention of health risks identified in the program.
