Strategic Delivery of Change Wire and Plastic Products Plc Company was started in 1971. The company has developed an empire out of the provision of advertising and marketing services. It is one of the largest company offering media and communications services. The company is operating in 100 countries with 2400 offices. It operated as a distributor and manufacturers of wire and plastic products, which enabled it to be traded publicly as a London stock Exchange. Martin Sorrell was one of the founders who acquired the company for them to use it as a public entity by building a worldwide marketing service company. He later became the director of the company in 1986 where he renamed the company WPP. WPP became the largest marketing and Communication Company worldwide by 1998. Organic growth and strategic combination enabled the company to achieve this position. The company is of good importance to the public in terms of environmental conditions. The raw materials and other resources used by the company are wastes, which could have polluted the environment. The studies indicated that the problem in many companies is how the company is recruiting the employees. Employees are not recruited as per their qualifications. This is because after the interview the recruited employees have lower grades than those who are left out. I worked in the company as part time employee and I have experienced how the employees are recruited. There are employees who have served in the company for a long time without being confirmed. This is because new employees are admitted to larger positions in the company leaving the other employees unconfirmed though they are qualified. For one to be employed in the company, it depends on what you have and whom you know in the company. Employees in the management positions are recruiting their friends and relative even if they are not qualified for the positions. This will lead to poor performances in the company, which might even lead to collapse of the company. This problem in the organization is brought by long serving employees in the management positions. This makes them ignore the rules and regulations of the company and exercise their duties as they wish. When it comes to recruitment, employees in the management position will consider their friends and relatives are first making all process unfair. The managers employ their own people, but they conduct the interviews only for formality in the organization. This makes the employees in the organization to be incompetent. This is because they cannot perform their duties as required. Their qualifications and experienced do not fit the positions they are holding in the company. The company’s sales reduce because of stiff competition from other competitors offering the same products. This is because the qualities of products from other companies are of high quality making the customers prefer the competitor’s products. Another big problem affecting the company is corruption. The leaders in the company are corrupted when recruiting new employees and even award of tenders for the supply of raw materials. In the recruitment process, job seekers should either know someone in the management position or give a certain amount for them to be employed. The top management employees have designed recruitment process as a source of money for themselves. This is because whenever there is recruitment in the company, those recruited should part with some money. In addition, the managers of the company prefer to employee the less qualified staff because they will pay lower salaries. The highly qualified and experienced staff will demand higher pay. The lowly paid employees will enable the company managers to pocket the extra mount, which could be paid if the highly paid employees were recruited. To save the situation in the company, measures should be taken to ensure that the recruitment process is free and fair. The system should be designed and followed when recruiting the employees. This can be even inviting observers from outside the company to witness the process of recruitment. In every recruitment process, records of all the employed staff should be kept safely. The company will go through the records frequently to ensure that the recruited staff are qualified and fit to the positions they held in the company. This will be very effective as the managers and other officials, who are employing their friends and relatives and demanding money will not get a chance to do that. This is because of the presence of the observers in the process of recruitment. The top management officials should be reshuffled. This will enable the company to break the close relationship between the management and the employees. This is because the closeness will make the managers and other officials be influenced when recruiting new staff. In addition, this will break the relationship between the managers and other employees, which may lead to corruption and other illegal deals. This will make the employees be satisfied and comfortable with their remuneration. When an employee is satisfied with what he/she is given, he/she will not think of corruption or any other misappropriation of the company’s money or any other resources. Reshuffling of the managers will discourage corruption and the methods of recruitment. This because it will take time for the new managers to understand each other with other employees, that they can practice corruption and illegal recruitment process. Employees should be recognized in all their better or excellent performances in the company. This is through the offering of presents surprisingly to the better performers. This will motivate the better performers to improve their standards of working as they feel they are part of the company by being recognized for what they have done better. The other employees will be motivated to work hard keeping in mind that the better performers will be recognized. This is because they have witnessed their colleagues being recognized through the offering of presents. Motivation will make the employees feel part of the company because what they do to the company is recognized. The products will have improved as the employees are working to their best level leading to the production of products with high quality. The products will be marketable and it will enable the company to improve in the sales department and thereafter increases the profits. Higher profits will enable the company to expand leading to an increase in the number of units produced at once. When the employees are recognized and motivated in what they do to the company, they will not be tempted to practice illegal recruitment process and corruption. They will not demand any money from the recruits for them to be considered. This is because the company rewarding them as per their performances. Corruption and the recruitment process have been rampant and they have been featured in the media outlets. This is because they are the common problems affecting many organizations and companies currently. Every organization is trying to eliminate the problem. This is through some changes in the companies’ departments as recruitment and management departments. Other measures, which should be incorporated to deal with the problem, are salary remuneration and employees motivation. This will improve the spirit of working and will eliminate corruption, as the employees are satisfied with what they are given in the companies they work with. Read More
