Question One The Shewhart charts are tools used to determine if a business or manufacturing process is, in a statistical control. This was discovered by Walter A. Shewhart in the 1920s. Control charts are graphs used to study changes in processes over a period of time.
Question Two
Indiana State University (ISU) is one of the best universities accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. From my experience in the university I discovered that it applies the Deming’s 9th point. This is because the university has made sure that all departments are interrelated and share the same vision of providing the best quality of education. This has benefited the university by making it one of the top university in Indiana (4International Colleges & Universities).
Question Three
An interview by two lecturers in the university under anonymity one of the Demings point that came out from both people as being applied in the university is adopting the new philosophy of continuous training of workers. The university appreciates that, in the educational market, there is the need to keep track with knowledge. This is beneficial in making sure that lecturers give quality and up to date knowledge to students.
Question Four
From Deming’s point of view, the use of merit pay for teachers helps in increasing the quality of teachers and school based. However, to my opinion, this may be destructive because it induces cheating, teaching to the test, and using other ways that would increase teachers’ bonus without improving the students’ learning.
Question Five
The most meaningful quote from Philip Crosby is that (Crosby),
“If anything is certain, it is that change is certain. The world we are planning for today will not exist in this form tomorrow.”
This quote means that there is always change especially with change or advancement in technology. It is crucial for people to embrace change and adjust to it in order to succeed.
