Response People in an organization want to participate in decision making process primarily so that they are well equipped to make correct and rational decisions in emergency situations. In a police agency, it becomes extremely important because they have to communicate with community and need to interact with the public in their daily work routine. When they participate in people oriented decision making and group decision making processes, they are empowered with knowledge and information which they can use to make correct decisions.

The underlying assumption of organization behavior relies on the fact that people give their best in a supporting and trusting environment. I therefore believe that people oriented approach ensures understanding and mutual respect amongst the workforce and they are able to work constructively within teamwork. Response 2 The Police managers must look out for signs of mal-stress in the workforce because it is quite common for the police to work under trying conditions and lack of motivated environment results in stress and overwork.

If the policemen are not able to make correct decisions and are prone to react slowly to an emergency situation, it is a strong indication of malstress. It adversely impacts the efficiency of the individuals. The leadership initiatives within the Police Managers encourage development of facilitating environment that promotes understanding to resolve conflicts (Yukl, 2002). At the same time, the transfer of officers within the department and across significantly helps to reduce the stress of the position and provides the policemen with new challenges.

Interestingly, the change within the department, especially when it is people oriented and takes into consideration the myriad issues on the wider welfare of the employees, greatly serves to rejuvenate the workforce.ReferenceYukl, G.A. (2002). Leadership in Organizations. 5th ed. Upper Saddle River, NJ: Prentice-Hall.
