Define Managers and Discuss the Changing Nature of Management Managers have a very decisive role within any organization. This has been the case for a number of decades now and it will continue to be as such in the times to come. Managers have attained significance because they carry out the pertinent tasks of management and they do so with consummate easy and tenacity. However it is not an easy proposition because management asks of the managers to give in their very best time and again. Managers have easily overtaken the role of leaders as there is an inter-connected link between the managers and the leaders, the latter being within the top management domains of any organization. The managers lead teams, execute ideas, develop the workforce and allocate resources for the sake of all concerned. Their essential duty is to bring out the very best through collective efforts of the team members and to ask of these very team members to give in their best on a proactively consistent basis. Managers therefore have a definitive role to play within the midst of an organization and it is because of the above-mentioned reasons that managers have had their say within the decision-making tenets. Managers are responsible for nearly all aspects that come under their auspices. The management realms ask of the managers to take the initiative, gain control and lead teams so that their end results are significant towards the eventual goals of the organization. Managers are usually very accessible in their working methodologies and hence it is easy to get along with them on the part of the people who work with them or under their aegis. Management is therefore a very broad area which must be understood within the proper domains before moving ahead any further. Management stems its basis from the classical perspective, an area that banked heavily on the use of more leaders rather than managers. However with the changing times, the focus has been put on the shoulders of managers so that they could showcase their management talents and abilities as well as deliver instant results for the sake of the business entities they work for. Management has remained firm in the belief that people need to be supervised in an able capacity by a leader who can deliver whenever the going gets tough. This leader must stand up and be counted for the sake of not only his own self but also the subordinates who work under him. In essence, he is actually working towards building a solid base for the sake of his organization which is all the more important. Once again, the emphasis is on building capacity management and how this shapes up towards a positive outlook of the organization in the long run. The manner in which the organizations of today have given the managers the right to understand the proper working dynamics is an interesting one – more so because it has helped in the overall facilitation of activities and goals as well as assisted in the long term productivity patterns of the business which is also a very enticing proposition. Management realms are dependent on the top level decisions which have a huge role to play within the related domains. Had it not been for the sake of management decisions, the top level hierarchies within the organization would surely have an easy ride. However this is not the case entirely and the top levels have to take responsibility where it is due so that the management domains have a reason to believe that they are undertaking the right steps and giving their very best in the long term scheme of things. The top level hierarchies have a responsibility to come out clean as per their relevant decisions and tell the management domains what the top level expects of them from the future standpoint. This is a pretty interesting aspect and one that would bring rich dividends for the organization in the long run (Dobson 1999). The aspect of properly understanding the dynamics of relationships at the top most level is one which will put the management quarters at a better stead as far as the work philosophies are concerned. It will also look to solve the anomalies which have cropped up within the work systems and have thus marred the very basis of essential management. It is always a positive to learn from the mistakes that have thus been committed within the management entities and procedures. The roles and responsibilities of managers therefore rely heavily on the way these managers conduct themselves within the domains of the organization that they work for. Moving ahead with this discussion, one must comprehend the fact that managers in the changing world of management have now attained more responsibilities and thus their tasks have been cut out so to speak. They exactly now what their top bosses have asked them to commit themselves to and thus they are doing their utmost to make it big within their respective roles as managers working towards good effect for the sake of the organization. Their loyalties must reign supreme as far as the work regimes are related and hence it would be a given that they will carry out the best possible tasks and actions which will eventually benefit the organization, both from a tactical standpoint as well as in the long run. The managers are assisted duly by their subordinates who are actually doing their best to prove their mettle within the folds of the organization that they work for. It is always advisable for an organization to encourage their workforce so that productivity could increase and employees could have a higher morale at work and in their personal lives. Monetary incentives and job promotions immensely help in shaping up the beliefs and ideologies that employees have of work realms and this is a positive sign for any organization that wishes to implement the same in a head on fashion. The managers must make sure that their workforce remains committed and geared to achieve the very best within the shortest amount of time so that the missing links could be plugged for the betterment of the business entity. Managers are responsible for getting the required resources under their belt so that any hiccups that do arise from the domains of the subordinates or the third party vendors are taken care of by the management regimes in place. It is a sure given that the managers would have to go that extra yard in order to make sure that the job gets done as far as the business understanding of work is concerned (Gaynor 2004). More than anything else, it is the will and desire of the manager that will play a huge role at turning the tide on its head and bringing a sense of serenity within the workplace settings. The managers therefore realize where they have gone wrong in the event of a shortcoming as well as decide for their own selves how they will plug the gap in the shortest time possible. It is important that the manager uses his pivotal role at making the best use of his strengths, which indeed is the workforce working under his able guidance. It is this workforce that will instill a sense of confidence and trust within the organization and bring out the very best in the times to come. Hence it is of paramount significance to have the best available manager so that the long term means success and nothing else in entirety. With that the emphasis should always be placed on building the capacity domains of the manager so that he could give his very best no matter how tough the working regimes are or how trying the odds have been stacked against him. It is a fact that the role of a manager has encompassed quite a few difficult roles of late. This has happened due to the complexities attached with his role in the organization. The manager needs to take along the entire organization and therefore mesh the same with the different tasks and processes that come under his domains to get the job done in the shortest amount of time. His role is to get the work accomplished from the people who work under him and thus demand the very best from them on a consistent basis. The end result is in the form of a solitary goal that takes into consideration quite a few efforts of the people that work under his aegis and thus give their best, day in and day out. The strategic and financial success of the organization is highly dependent on the actions and behaviors of these people and there is no denying this very fact in essence. The manager takes pains to remove the hindrances that crop up in his way and he makes sure that these difficulties turn into potential opportunity domains and areas. One must not forget that the manager faces quite a lot of pressure courtesy the hierarchy of which he is answerable to. It means that he needs to tell the top management where he has gone wrong and how he needs to maneuver his troops in accordance with the organizational goals and objectives (Caravalho 1999). The element of accountability reigns supreme within the tenets of an able manager and he understands such nuances within his folds. He must remain apt whilst dealing with his top management regimes as well as the middle tier. His role is therefore doubled at times when he needs to have a stern view of the things that will be shaped up within the future. One must take note of the fact that within an organization, the managers work alongside one another towards different functions to remain abreast of the changing needs and wants of the organization. They undertake the tasks and actions based on their gut feeling as well as the experience they have thus gained with the passage of time. Managers find out different ways through which they can encounter possible solutions to a problem which has engulfed the organization in essence. They find out the means through which the lingering issues could be subsided and how the relevant domains could be made better for the long term scheme of things. Having said that it is very important to make sure that the managers remain proactive in their approach towards the organizational tasks and goals and exhibit the best of behaviors both with their peers as well as the people working under their aegis. The element of planning, once again is quintessential as it dictates the way under which success could be achieved for the sake of the management quarters and the organization in entirety. In the end, it would be proper to state that the world of management has changed by leaps and bounds. The role of managers within this scenario has increased in an exponential manner and there is reason to believe that the same will be the case in the times to come as well. The manager will gain even more significance in the coming times and therefore exhibit the best use of resources so that the organization would come out as the winner at the end of the day. The longevity of business success is highly dependent on the actions that are undertaken by the manager and there is reason to believe that this indeed is a step in the right direction. The most important measure for the sake of the top management is to know that the managers are giving their best on a continuous basis because this is an important indicator of quite a few things that are taking place within the organization (Schiller 1992). If this comes out as a successful measure, there is weight in the fact that the managerial responsibilities are being carried out in the most apt manner that there ever could be. It calls for a good case study that could be prepared in the midst of an organization which relies significantly on the roles of management realms and how it has shaped up its own self with the passage of time.
