Recruiting and selection strategy McDonalds hiring and recruiting process begins by reviewing the applications sent by jobseekers. The applications are arranged according to work experience, merit and academic level. When a candidate is selected, the Human Resource manager gives a test on Intelligence quotient, job experience and expectations, English comprehension and basic mathematics. The organization uses two types of recruitment, which are external and internal recruitment methods. The internal recruitment involves employee who are already in the organization and are interested on the advertised position in the organization.
An internal memo is circulated through mail or notice board to let all employees have access. The interested employees apply and those who qualify secure the vacant position. If the employees do not qualify for the position, external recruitment is open to the public to send their applications. The organization post job advertisement through web and newspapers. The organization hires people for three shifts, i.e. morning, evening and night shift. Training and development strategy The Human Resource Manager takes new employees through orientation.
The employee is shown the attire to wear during working hours. All new employees spend 15- 20 days in different departments. All hired employees are under 6 months probation to prove their knowledge and skills. Skillful and knowledgeable employees are issued with appointment letters as permanent employees. The organization takes all workers through training sessions to develop their career. Employees are also transferred to other branches to learn how other stores carry out their business activities.
The following is the hierarchy in the management career: a. Trainee manager b. Second assistant manager c. First assistant manager d. Restaurant manager e. Beyond manager Compensation strategy Compensation is reward or pay given to the employees by their employers. The compensation strategy comes into two ways: direct financial and indirect payments. Direct financial payment involves bonuses, salaries, wages and incentives while indirect payment involves financial privileges paid by the employer such as vacation.
McDonalds’ compensation programs are meant for energizing, attracting, retaining and rewarding the best employees. The organization has promises to the employees. McDonalds has five people principles that help the company fulfill its promises to the employees. The five people principles include: 1. Good pay and benefits 2. Training, personal growth and development 3. Working resources 4. Leadership structure 5. Recognition and respect The McDonalds’ management training site states that employee enjoy a variety of benefits such as company vehicles, picnics, medical cover and hospital facilities, house furnishing, provident fund, loans and Umrah packages.
The organization creates a long-term relationship with their employees by offering compensation and other benefits (McDonald, 2012). Global Human resource management Human resource management is universal in terms of processes, policies and strategies. The multinational enterprises have recognized global human resource as a central challenge in developing and managing human resources. The global human resource management emphasizes on fresh ways of working, well treatment of employees, encouraging employees, and promoting change at work places.
