? The ABC Service Agency 19th, November, The ABC Service Agency Introduction Globalization of the market place has become a critical factor in distribution of goods and services. Developments in information technology have left businesses around the world with no other alternative, but to venture into the international market (Bennett, 2002). This strategic plan was developed by ABC agency’s board of directors in collaboration with professional consultants. It provides a five-year roadmap that will transform the company into a multinational business. The board of directors was bound to a quarterly review and update of the strategic plan. The committee included six board members and four of our top managerial staff. The board of directors together with other key partners held meetings twice a week to review the mission and the core values of the company. Company staff members were also instrumental in providing support to the committee and review of the draft plan (Bond, 2003). In addition, different stakeholders provided their views on organizational assessment in relation to challenges and opportunities of international business. Executive summary Background The ABC agency was established in 1992 as a volunteer organization to provide support to children with disability. Currently the organization provides support services to over 2,000 children and adults across the United States and it is a major employer. ABC agency support program provides placement and support, Respite care, or planned relief for the caregivers of children and adults with disabilities, and vocational training. The agency also provides information and referral services to the community with the aim of providing support to people living with disabilities. Direction and Results Strategic direction and results included in this plan are based on the value that the company places on its customers and the need to utilize available resources for sustainable growth. The company is also keen on identifying opportunities in order to counter possible challenges. Due to the growing need for our services beyond our borders, the agency needs to expand its marketing and operation tentacles to enable it exploit emerging opportunities (Lawrence, Weber & Post, 2005). The five-year plan aim at establishing concrete relationship with the donor community and expand productions and marketing options. We also acknowledge the sensitive role that the company plays in the community. To maintain its position in the society the company seeks to expand its production capacity in order to cater for an expanding market. ABC agency will pursue the following directions The company will review and heighten its existing services to ensure that they are effective and reliable. The company will also assess customer satisfaction index to determine its influence in the international market. The ABC agency will work with humanitarian organizations across the globe to identify possible areas of interests. The agency will also collaborate with leading manufacturer of support equipments around the globe to produce support equipments for people with disability at an affordable cost. The company also aims to collaborate with major technology companies to design an information system that will form its main operation platform. Goals The following goals were drafted following cross consultation with key stakeholders and a detailed analysis of the current business environment. The goals provide a strategic framework that will enable the company achieve its target within the stated time. Service delivery It is evident that the company has become a market leader due to its ability to offer high quality services to its customers. We deal in a highly sensitive environment and, therefore our services are evaluated various parties including human rights and government agencies. We therefore seek to reinforce our service delivery in providing family support, education, and employment opportunities. Human resources ABC agency values its staff and the need to improve their service delivery. Within the proposed period, the company seeks to develop a highly qualified and a motivated work force capable of driving the firm into the next level. The company also seeks to recruit additional staff to take various responsibilities during the international expansion period. Resource development ABC is a highly visible and a well-respected non-profit organization. The organization attracts variety of contribution from the community including volunteers and donations. Successful implementation of the strategic plan will depend on the company’s ability to attract fund and support from the international community as it strives towards international expansion and recognition. In addition, the strategic plan will depend on the company’s ability to attract a wide range of customers around the world. Vision This section provides information on the future of the company in relation to its objectives for the next twenty years. Context The agency looks forward to becoming a successful international organization within the next twenty years. By the end of the year 2025, the agency needs to have established self-reliant organizations in a multiple of countries in Europe and Asia. The agency also hopes to establish a joint organization that will take over operation of other related agencies in the Latin American and Far East. Due to the anticipated growth of the aging population, the agency needs to increase its service delivery for the aged population. Thus, the company will have established care homes for the elderly to provide support to the society. Finally, the agency has significant emphasis on people with disabilities. By the end of the proposed period, the agency needs to have increased its involvement in care and service centre for people with disabilities. Service delivery is expected to increase by about 300% as the agency venture into new environment. Increase in service delivery will have ripple effect on resources and funding that the company requires sustaining its operation. Therefore, the agency seeks to increase its funding and human resources. Programs and services The agency is responsible for identifying and linking disabled children and adult with available resources. ABC agency is also keen on providing support to families with children or adults with disabilities. To achieve its target, the agency hopes to increase its service delivery in; Collaboration with service providers and other community oriented organizations. Directly provide innovative services and support that meet identified gaps within the society Lead in advocacy efforts for people living with disabilities Facilitate financial planning to establish a long-term financial plan that will benefit millions of people across the world. Funding The agency has been dependent on government’s efforts and donations from well-wishers. Following extensive consultation, the committee has come up with a comprehensive and innovative plan to enable it raise resources from private sources. Mission ABC agency has a mission to achieve satisfactory lives for children and adults living with disabilities. The agency hopes to introduce a sharper or a more precise mission in this strategic plan. Due to the agency’s international ambition, the committee considered it appropriate to restructure the current leadership. This will enable the agency to achieve its objective of been the leading service provider in the sector. The agency also seeks to improve its co-corporation with the community in order to improve its service delivery. Core values The following operating values were considered significant in maintaining the image of the agency. The agency will demonstrate a high level of compassionate and concern for adults and children living with disability across the world. In this caring attitude, the agency will prioritize in consumer education to familiarize our customers with their values. Responsiveness- The agency will work through responsive formulae that seek to find solution that meet the needs of people living with disabilities. Respectfulness- The agency respects the choice of people and their preference toward certain services. We also respect the role of family members in influencing the choices of services. Integrity and accountability- The agency hopes to sustain a high level of integrity in its administration and service delivery. We value accuracy in record keeping and reporting. These values are tied to our mission and outreach activities. Diversity- ABC agency draws its target population from different religions, ethnicity, and races. The agency seeks to assist people irrespective of their religious, nationality or ethnic background. State of art services- ABC agency aims for excellence in its service delivery. The agency believes that family members can count on our services for the well-being of their relatives. Financial sustainability- the agency is bound to offering edge-cutting services to the society. As we strive to deliver our mission through strategic combination of resources, the company hopes to achieve financial dependence by raising funds from private sources. Customers The customer is a person or organization whose life or existence depends on the organization. Primary customers may not be direct recipient or consumers of a company’s goods and services but they are directly involved in the line of production and consumption (Greiner, 2002). Identifying the primarily customer enables an organization to set its priorities in relation to the business environment (Hirshleifer, Glazer & Hirshleifer, 2005). ABC agency exists to offer support to people living with disabilities across the country. Such individuals and their families are our main customers. The agency hopes to strengthen its relationship with the customers in order to achieve its objectives. Environment Environment scan (e-scan) is the process of establishing facts and trends within the business environment using appropriate tools (Bade & Michael, 2001). Strengths The agency has demonstrated key strengths in its service delivery to people living with disabilities. The agency also has effective reputation in the society. This has enabled it to attract support and funding from different agencies. Weakness The agency’s growth has been considered as a major source of weakness. Due to the expansion needs of the company, and the growing demand for its services, the agency has not been able to recruit enough staff to cope with the demand. The company also has a lapse in its management system that requires immediate interventions. Application of information technology in the company’s management has also been considered as a major lapse in the company’s management. Need for additional social and recreational facilities also forms the main agenda of the company. Opportunities The agency has experienced an increase in demand for its services due to increased awareness. In addition, the agency has enjoyed collaboration with key institutions across the country. This will contribute to its global ambition by increasing its credibility in the international environment. The agency is also likely to attract massive funding from international agency due to its continued social support. Threats Overdependence on donor funds- funding from the donor community and the government does not cater for the financial needs. Thus, the management needs to assess the demand for our services in order to determine the required financial input. The agency is also experiencing significant threats from increased cost of operation and the need to provide quality services. Other threats include aging population, lack of volunteers and increased costs of operation. Strategic Direction This section provides a systematic approach describing the company’s operation towards achieving the set target.
