Process improvement initiatives are all those measures and actions which add value to the product/ service and the enterprise. It is defined as the set of actions which are vital for eliminating the unnecessary aspects. Processes group up together and enable creation of a product or delivery of a service. Processes are like the first brick towards further proceedings in the organization and the correct application of processes enable objectives achievement and success for an organization (Wysocki 2004).

The process improvement initiative starts at top floor of the organization and top management, every action taken must put the decision makers in line and must be implemented on them. This is followed by identification of areas that are high stake values and their decline or inclination results in direct negative or positive impact on the organization. The scope of process improvement is very large and applies to the entire organization project as well as the stake holders that are involved in the proceedings.

This is followed by improvement in the processes, and overall working environment. This comes in form of enhancing the overall productivity, minimizing on wastes, improving the product and service quality .It must be noted that wastes come in different form; they can be either in form of space, the transportation, inventory, the supply chain or any other element of the entity that has direct impact on the overall performance of organization. Process improvement initiative would require nourishing the schedules and minimizing the lack of communication.

Need for Communication: Organized and structured communication is an essential part of any organizational activity. It holds the place of backbone towards the operations in routine. Communication applies not only to the internal elements of organization but also the external; in short, communication is a must for all the stakeholders that are involved in the business operation. Hence it must be ensured that proper communication channel exists between the different entities of organization. An important aspect of the successful operations requires availability of bridge between the top management and middle management, while the top management provides guidelines and set road maps, the middle and lower end management ensures its execution which is not possible without proper communication in place.

Implementation of Six Sigma: Six sigma is a concept that assures productivity in the enterprise. It is the mechanism and approach that ensures minimum defects in the products and services. Another name for six sigma is continuous improvement, which focuses on ever competitive environment where the raw material and raw processes cannot survive in the setup and hence the overall productivity is improved through implementation of six sigma. Six sigma addresses and targets those areas where improvements are possible and also those areas that can provide maximum returns through profits.

Adoption of six sigma increases the profits by large proportions and guarantees success .Six sigma itself is a time tested tool towards excellence in the manufacturing industry and over period of time many organizations that desire to achieve the desired objectives implement six sigma mechanism and make it part of their daily working(Schonberger 2007) .
