?Position Paper When it comes to business management, the values that I hold most central and important to how I approach work are creativity, innovations, self respect and flexibility. And when it comes to instrumental values, I hold dependability and trust very close to my heart. I highly value these structures I set for myself in terms of my career aspirations and my personal growth. I firmly believe that these are the value structures which are adopted by people in the field which I aspire. I also believe that personal development is the key to improve self-knowledge, identity, talents as well as enhancing the quality of life. Without personal development realizing one’s dreams and aspirations are not possible. I continually thrive to achieve personal development through inspirations and small things in life. Accepting the things we cannot change and appreciating the things that we are have are critical for personal growth in my experience. I also believe that one has to do the things that he/she love in order to succeed in anything. Without the passion for doing things, it cannot be a success. I always try my best to believe in myself and to give my all when I am engaged to a particular work. According to the personal development based on me2 questionnaire my personality analysis ranked me very high as a curious person but very uncomfortable with uncertainty and ambiguity. I do not like to be in situation which I cannot take control of. For me, I have to certain in what I do and my curious nature often drives me to understand the world the world around. Hard working is the key to any success but without values and personal growth, it is not a complete success as we as a human should evolve through our experiences and beliefs. I believe one of the reasons I felt confident in my learning experience, my personality and my career path is that I know for a fact that this is where I want to be. Confidence is very crucial when it comes to business management and I believe that if you are not confident about yourself or your work, it is not possible to grow. In the confidence zone, I perceived myself to be reasonably confident in my capacity to generate and work with ideas. My beliefs, values and confidence give me the positive learning environment. I often spend tie analyzing each sessions of my class and focusing on how I can improve my learning goals. This gives me the perspective of what I need to improve and develop. My flexibility also gives me the confidence to tackle any task given to me. For me change is the way of life and one should be open about change if it is for the positive cause. “Change equates with life, with our own personal, social, mental and physical development and with our ability to learn, to adapt, and to play an active role in social and community activities” (Andriopoulos & Dawson 2009, p.14) for me life is about making compromises when it matters and one should be flexible enough to welcome change. I also believe any personal, professional and career growth cannot be achieved without confidence and flexibility. I always believe in myself and this boost my confidence level which makes me extremely goal oriented. Although over confidence is what drives people to making stupid and irrational decisions, so I always calculated my options before I make any big decisions. I can say that I have grown personally over the past few years; I still need to work on many areas of my path to achieve my goals. But, I also believe that with my confidence and myself motivation, I can definitely achieve my career goals in life. My self – efficiency is what makes me believe that I am capable of successfully performing a task assigned to me. I rate my level of self- efficiency to be very strong and this gives me the confidence to face new task or challenges. Idea generations can define as “The process of creating, developing, and communicating ideas which are abstract, concrete, or visual. The process includes the process of constructing through the idea innovating the concept, developing the process, and bringing the concept to reality” (Idea Generation n.d.). Idea generation is important tools for any business for develop. For me, it includes all the stages of thought development, innovations, and delivery. For idea generation, I believe that creativity is pivotal. Without creativity, one cannot succeed in the business world. Creativity is what urges people to look for new ideas, new projects and successful delivery. “The ability of Leonardo da Vinci to imagine a helicopter over 500 years ago, Edison to develop the light bulb and, more recently, Steve Jobs to develop the personal computer – all highlight the importance of creativity to the development of society” (Andriopoulos & Dawson 2009, p. 18). One also needs to have a vision to execute business plans. I firmly believe that I have the vision and the creativity to be successful in my career. Although I sometimes lack to see the negative side of things due to my creativity and vision, it also drives me to achieve my goals. My time spend in class have enhanced my idea generation. I also learned that no idea is small and no dream is too big. When it comes to idea generation, I feel that one should be open to new ideas and an open mind. When it comes to idea generation I believe that the pursuits of big ideas are worthwhile, but on the other hand they are many times short- lived. Having said that, I do mean that people should not have big ideas, but people should also be open to small ideas as well. Having the ability to dream and daring to execute the dream is what makes idea generation works. When it comes to idea generation, innovation is also an important factor. Innovation is what gives life to any business. Many people, equates innovation to the creation of a new idea or product. But, this is not the case as innovation is the exploitations of new ideas. I also believe that creativity and innovations go hand in hand as Creativity encourages innovation. Creativity and innovation are the core characteristics for leaders and managers. Any business successes are the direct product of the innovations behind them. I believe that innovations should start by simple steps and that innovation starts from the desire of perfection. I believe that a persisting and positive motivation can be best measured through progress from work engagement. The study of motivation is crucial in any business as it helps the management to understand what prompts people to initiate action. According to the me2 questionnaire my achievement motivation is 8, which says that I perceive myself to be exceptionally achievement oriented. I place a very strong emphasis on hard work, continuous personal improvement and attaining excellence in how I approach my work. Motivation is crucial in any business set up and I feel that it is one of the most important recipes for success in a business set up. I highly considered myself to be engaged and willing to devote my time and energy on my work. I firmly believe that motivations can have a tremendous effect on the output of any business. There are different approaches to motivation and the approaches I feel would work best for me are the cognitive and incentive approach. My attitude towards my goal is driven by my motivation of perfection. My motivation I would say comes from my desire to achieve my goals and myself discipline. I do believe that I have motivations to achieve my goals, but on the other hand, I would like it to be much stronger. However, I do hope that after my course here, I will have a stronger motivation to get more out of life. Reference List Andriopoulos, C. & Dawson, P. Managing Change, Creativity and Innovation.
