My duty was to assist Alex, the director of strategic planning. I got information relating to the problems faced in Kava as a result of Alex’s decisions. Alex endorsed me with the responsibility of preparing a paper describing my rationale and plan for implementing the decisions in order to establish a greater influence of my organization in Kava. In this paper, the factors that affect the implementation of decision in the organization and propose the solution to tackle the situation are taken into consideration. Secondly, the resources and actions required to effectively implement the decision based on the proposed solution are evaluated. Finally, an analysis of the ethical implication on the part of stakeholders is made. Factors Affecting Decision Implementation: While implementing a decision in an organization, there may arise various hindrances which may curtail the organization’s effective functioning and, eventually, its growth. The major factors that affect the decision implementation can be identified as government interference, economic factors, ecological factors, human resources etc. Any decision can be effectively implemented if all these factors are considered while taking the decision. Government plays a major role in the development of an organization. The government, with its power to put restrictions on an organization, can be considered as a factor that may affect the implementation of decisions taken in the organization. The solution to this problem is possible if the organization sees to all the requirements laid down by the government. “Though having a positive shape on organization performance, implementation of a new project management methodology may face serious road backs” (How Does Organizational Culture Affect Project Management Methodology Implementation?, n.d.). The economic factors will have a major affect on the implementation of decisions implementation in the organization. If the company decides to make changes in its cost or other economic matters, it should first take into account the economical condition of the place. If the economic decisions do not meet the economical condition of the place, then the implementation of the decision will be ineffective. Ecological factors also affect the decision as any organization is influenced by the geographical situation of the place where it is located. If the decision taken is adverse to the ecological condition, then it cannot be effectively implemented and may cause loss for the company. In a place like Kava, which is mainly prone to natural disasters, it is important to consider the natural condition as well as the living condition of the people. The human resources may affect the decision implementation because a decision to reduce pay may invite protest from the workers. Availability of cheap labour may attract the company but those labourers will most probably be unskilled. In Kava, cheap labour is available along with the persisting problem of unskilled labour. So the decision taken should be based on the human resources of the place. There are also other minor factors that may affect the effective implementation of the decisions. Prior to making and implementing a decision, a deep evaluation is required and a SWOT analysis may prove fruitful. The first solution is to study and follow the government rules regarding the setting up of organizations. The second solution is to provide minimal aid to the natives so as to make them economically stable. In order to help the people and to tackle the ecological situations, an evacuation centre might be built so that the people of Kava can get shelter in that centre when a disaster occurs. To solve the problem of unskilled labour, training should be provided to the people of Kava. These solutions may incur high cost for the company, so a cost-benefit analysis may be helpful. Evaluating Resources and Actions: The resources and actions needed to implement the decisions based on the solution proposed are analysed on the basis of the costs incurred and the actions undertaken. The solution proposed will incur high cost and this may also prove to be non-fruitful. The social responsibility of the company is given more importance rather than its profit motive. During the short run period, the decision taken may prove to be a loss for the company but may be profitable in the long run. “When risk is taken in a business, it can either cause a loss or even profits to the business. In order to avoid losses, the decisions which are made by the candidates designed in such a manner that they are cost effective and they are also calculated” (A Project Proposal for a Hypothetical Not for Profit Organisation, 2005, para. 8). The actions taken to implement decisions effectively may need careful planning and even involve high cost. Moreover, the disasters in place and its after effect on the people make it necessary to take measures to help them in terms of employment, housing facilities and so on. Evaluating the ethical implications There are various ethical implications on the part of stakeholders based on the solution proposed. Some of these can be noted as social responsibility, ethical management and leadership, sustainability and social enterprise. “There are no universally agreed rules of ethics, no absolute standards or controls, and no fixed and firm reference points. This is fascinating given how hugely important ethics have now become in modern life and society” In the present world, the organizations are focussed not only on profit but also on their social responsibility. The social responsibility of the organizations has increased fourfold during the last decades. “In this context 'social' and 'socially responsible' include related factors such as: the environment sustainability globalization effects - e.g., exploitation, child-labour, social and environmental damage anywhere in the world corruption, armed conflict and political issues staff and customers relations - for instance education and training, health and safety, duty of care, etc local community And other social impacts on people's health and well-being” (Ethical Leadership, Decision – Making, and Organisations, 2006). The responsibility of an organization towards these factors has a major role in the solution proposed for implementing the decisions effectively.
