Corrective actions taken can include changes made to the standards of performance. Such standards set may be higher or lower than the previous performance standards or identifying new standards of performance. Organizational control has a number of implications and psychological bases. Many people thing that establishing control in an organization helps in achieving rewards. These rewards may be attained by exercising control or rewards may be attained by achieving a certain position which includes added remuneration and self-esteem (Tannenbaum, 1956).
In order to attain accurate result from management plans, it is very necessary that to establish proper controls in a firm. The planning process includes establishing objectives, determining actions to attain goals, schedule and delegate tasks, allocate resources, coordinate and communicate plans to all concerned and finally provide incentives for successful attainment of plans. The control function is to establish certain standards that must be followed in order to attain goals. It also entails evaluating and monitoring actions performed, take proper feedback and it needed take corrective actions to attain desired objectives.
The organizing process is the one which entails implementation of plans. In order to see to it that the implementation is successfully established proper checks and balances needs to be established. This is where the control function of management is linked with the organization function. The third function of management is that of leadership. The leader is responsible for influencing the followers to successfully attain goals. For this, the leader needs to establish certain controls in the organization.
It is the responsibility of the leader to make modifications in the controls established as and when required depending on the attainment and successful completion of goals. It is very important that there is a successful communication process in the organization. Accurate and time information must be provided in order to successfully attain objectives. For this, the control function is very important. There must be free flow of information channels in the organization and the control function is needed in order to see to it that the process of canalizing information is properly implemented.
Human resource measures Human resource measures of evaluating performance helps in determining the performance of an employee. This is judged on the basis of the successful attainment of goals that are predetermined by an organization. a) Performance evaluation aims to assess the skills displayed by an employee and accordingly judge the performance of the employee and the overall performance of an organization. An organization which is performing well is one which successfully attains missions.
In other words, the organization effectively implements the correct strategies to attain goals. Management control systems help to provide data and information to managers in successfully assisting organizations to maintain and develop viable behavioural patterns (Otley, 1999).
