? China Regional Integration- Advantages Regional integration is a kind of process in which different s or countries establish a mutual agreement with other countries in order to gain some benefit. This benefit can be achieved in any form, although agreements are mostly done on political and economic fronts. The agreement of regional integration done on political base is mostly for the purpose of bringing two separate nations together. Likewise, economic agreement focuses on filling the gaps between two countries and bringing them close to each other to serve their economic purposes (Rathus, 2011). China is one such country that is doing great job in the context of regional integration. It has acted as a strong initiator of regional integration policies and development. China is struggling hard to establish cooperation within South East Asian countries by promoting their economic interests. Behind the attempts at enhancing economic development in Asian countries underlies a strong goal of a making Asia a peaceful and economically developed continent (Clarke, 2011). There are many benefits of establishing regional integration of China with other South East Asian countries. The most important benefit of regional integration is allowing those countries that have been disadvantaged from economic aspects due to some reasons a chance to make themselves economically sound. As economic regional integration implies removing barriers in trade and other economic aspects to allow free trade among nations, regional integration is a beneficial phase for the countries to become developed economically (Nicolas, 2007). In addition to the advantages of regional integration described above, there are other benefits as well. It helps to strengthen the integration of trade within a specific region. Besides, it provides enormous chance for private investors to start a business over there. It also allows the countries involved in regional integration to develop economically stable public sector organizations and institutions. Thus it promotes a peaceful environment within different countries based on mutual trust and cooperation with each other (Storey, 2011). Among the great benefits of regional integration lies economic development of many sectors in those countries that are involved in the process of regional integration. Firstly, it enables the tourism industry of one country to flourish by removing the borders between two countries and encouraging free trade among them. The decrease in cross-trade barrier gives tourists an opportunity to visit other countries without caring for the hindrances regarding travel. Despite travelling and hospitality benefits, regional integration calls for a significant decrease in inflation rate by making cheaper products. Not only are the products become cheaper, they become diversified as well. It also allows the faster delivery of products and services in the integrated regions (Clarke, 2011). Due to these reasons, China has expanded the trade and economic development between ASEAN countries by making trade agreements between South East Asian countries. It has contributed a lot in making China and the other ASEAN countries to enjoy great benefits of regional integration. It is probably due to this fact that China has become a geographical region promoting diverse talent and skills. Hence, regional integration is the key to economic success of a country (Storey, 2011). China Regional Integration- Disadvantages China is a significant promoter of establishing mutually satisfying agreements of business or economic nature between nations. It has been a region that allows for the integration of political or economic nature between South East Asian regions. Regional integration can be defined as a process where mutual agreements are made to satisfy some great purpose that would be beneficial for the both regions. There are many benefits of regional integration for instance, economic development, integration of various industries and business at international level. In addition to the benefits of regional integration that are in abundance, it has many disadvantages also. The disadvantages of regional integration can be benefiting one country and not the other state or region. It happens that sometimes one region becomes economically developed through the practice of regional integration whereas the other countries are unable to achieve that degree of success or development which other countries are getting. In addition, sometimes the political state of a country is so much weak that it has to forcefully submit to the wishes of the other state by signing that agreement between the two states. In this way, regional integration cannot be seen in good light, but can be seen as a way to exploitation of a weal region at the hands of powerful regions (Rathus, 2011). Other problems that arise meanwhile establishing agreements are related to the distribution of economic resources between the two regions or states. It is also a problem to decide on which countries will take the lead in the decision making process and other factors. Sometimes unequal distribution of resources occurs between the two regions making a country lose a lot on resources grounds. It is also a problem when some country is getting aid and the other country is not in some way. It is dependent upon various other factors such as the values and current political or economic condition of a region, state or a country (Clarke, 2011). If we leave economic development for a while and talk only about politics aspect, we can see that politically based agreements do create a whole new set of problems in many different ways or manners. It can be seen in cases where some crisis occurs in a country and one has to resolve a serious issue of national integrity. So problems occur as to who will decide on tackling such a situation and how. In addition, there are various other serious issues regarding border crossing, national defense and policies related to these issues. Hence, it can be the worse possible state that can be created by regional integration (Rathus, 2011). However, keeping in view the disadvantages described above, we cannot consider regional integration a totally useless thing. As every problem has some solution, it is better to found some really good solutions to the problems described here. By solving these issues, one can fully benefit from the advantages of regional integration and improve the condition of one’s country accordingly.
