She elaborated during the course of her talk that she had issues with the other companies she worked where she was told “, “You’re just a number. You can be replaced at any time.” And elaborated how important it is for her to be respected and being taken seriously and know that she is being valued as an employee. And reading between her lines, she talked in nostalgia, that it is missing in her workplace. To address this missing need, Shank’s boss must strive to make his presence felt among his employees particularly Shank. A regular visit to the store and striking friendly conversation with the employees will make Shank feel appreciated and valued as an employee. Especially when it is expressly told to Shank that it is not only her work that is being valued by the store but her person as well. That will definitely give a boost to Shank’s motivation. 2. Use the Expectancy Theory and/or the Equity Theory of motivation to explain how feeling underpaid might affect the work of a Flight 001 associate and what a manager can do to increase the employee's motivation. This was best expressed by Claire underwater where she stated the problem and the solution when she remarked “It’s really important that you make enough to where you can pay the rent and get by, but at the same time your quality of life really does suffer if you don’t feel a connection with where you’re spending your hours every single day, and if you don’t feel like you’re supported and like you’re valued. And so I think it really is a combination of both – you need both.” Emily Griffin corroborated with how being underpaid affect the work of a Fligh associate when she told that some employees sees the retail industry as temporary. Feeling underpaid basically makes an employee see the work as being temporary and do less. To increase employee motivation, Claire underwater provided the answer that feeling “connected to the workplace and valued”can really make a difference to be motivated. 3. Based on Herzberg does Two Factor Theory, what hygiene factors can you identify that are being met within Flight 001's work environment based on comments made by employees in the video? How are they being met? Is Flight 001's work environment meeting any motivation factors? If so, which ones and how? (25 points)  The most glaring example of a hygiene factor in the video is that the employee feeling underpaid that a lot of people sees retail as temporary. This was however met when the employees have felt a “sense of camaraderie” among them. Flight 001’s work environment met a motivation factor which is the healthy relation with peers and supervisors.
