Matching supply and demand and how to maximize this has always been an integral business of companies. Any firm that is looking to improve its sales, which is one of the core objectives, will look for sure ways to make this work, and the chase strategy is one of the most common in the industry. Of course, these firms will be looking to meet particular objectives, and probably this is the ultimate solution. However, is there any complication that comes with the chase approach?
Many firms today utilize this strategy in one of the three production strategies for aggregate planning and meeting holiday requests. Essentially, this approach is a demand-matching plan. What does this mean, and how can a company meet this forecast? The concept is simple:
• Forecasting the future request of a firm’s product or service utilizing past or projected sales.
• Find out more about the market’s current demand and compliance.
• Also, in case a firm is dealing with a variable request for seasonal items, the chase approach is ideal.
Firms in the service industry usually apply this strategy in a particular season, and it has proven to be very effective.

For instance, during the holiday season, when there are surging demands, these companies (United Parcel and Wall-Mart) increase their staff to satisfy this growth. Most are hired on a seasonal basis in anticipation of this increase in demand during the holiday period.
