Of course, these firms will be looking to meet particular objectives, and probably this is the ultimate solution. However, is there any complication that comes with the chase approach? Many firms today utilize this strategy in one of the three production strategies for aggregate planning and meeting holiday requests. Essentially, this approach is a demand matching plan. What does this mean, and how can a company meet this forecast? The concept is simple:
  • Forecasting the future request of a firm’s product or service utilizing past or projected sales.
  • Finding out more about the market’s current demand and comply.
  • Also, in case a firm is dealing with a variable request for seasonal items, the chase approach is ideal.
Firms in the service industry usually apply this strategy in a particular season, and it has proven to be very effective. Implementation of the Methodology Employees are mostly affected by this strategy because of certain unforeseen factors. Therefore, companies tend to procure and lay off employees when they are looking to achieve certain production targets for a specific season. United Parcel Service and Wall-Mart usually apply the approach to fulfill their objectives. For instance, during the holiday season, when there are surging demands, these companies (United Parcel and Wall-Mart) increase their staff to satisfy this growth. Most are hired on a seasonal basis in anticipation of this increase in demand during the holiday period. In essence, the firms expect to be busy and adjust the available staff to meet this new service requirement. Firms that use this approach gain from the flexibility to meet demand fluctuations that mostly happen during holiday periods. Even better, they are not obligated to cater to the benefits of seasonal employees, saving a massive amount of their profits. United Parcel and Wall-Mart have been applying this approach for some time successfully, and it is perfectly depicted in this chase strategy essay. ...Download file to see next pagesRead More
