This calls for concerted effort in achieving the highest level of professional qualification in areas of interest. Having gone through other levels of academics, it has come a time when I have to specialize on one field in which I profess profound interest. I have always nurtured the dream and aspiration of becoming one of the renowned economic experts. Ever since I was in grade school, I performed well on mathematics and finance related subjects.

My parents, family members, teachers, as well as my mentor in high school acknowledged my profound interest in economics. Although my heightened interest in economics is intrinsic, I have gained much motivation and influence from global management consultant firms such as McKinsey & Company, IBM BCS and Deloitte Consulting. However, I enrolled in University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign for an engineering course. Since this was not my field of passion, I was not able to perform optimally. However, I gained profound skills in mechanical engineering course, which will assist me in my field of specialization as an economist.

I hope to synergistically blend engineering skills with economics to come up with unmatched skills in the field of economics. My ultimate career goal is to be a successful management consultant. Therefore, a blend of skills in mechanical engineering and economics will give me a great advantage in this field. My interest in economics can actually be asserted by my exemplary performance in GRE test. I did particularly well on mathematics section. I find this achievement particularly important in economics as a field of specialization since it requires profound skills in mathematics.

More importantly, I gained a lot of exposure to complex mathematic calculations during my undergraduate program in engineering. I have gained experience to solving complex mathematical problems and therefore, equally fit to handle the challenges of a postgraduate program. I have successfully worked as a project manager in a reputable company. This position has exposed me to various challenges of real life application of professional skills. I have been able to learn to deal with people of different cultural and social background, which is a core prerequisite for teamwork and collaboration.

Certainly, this will be a great advantage in my postgraduate program as well as in my profession as a management consultant. Definitely, research work is part of postgraduate program. I do understand the importance of such research work and am prepared to do my best. Having done previous research work in my undergraduate program coupled with the experience gained as a project manager, I believe that I am in a position to handle the challenges and responsibilities of postgraduate research. I would primarily like to focus my research study to management consulting, which is my desired field of specialization.

I believe that a chance to pursue my postgraduate program in your institution will be a lifetime achievement. It will give me the much-desired opportunity to grow intellectually, personally, and professionally.
