Reasons for transferring and the objectives to achieve - Essay Example

The reason for my transfer from the of Washington (UW) is mainly for academic purposes. While UW provides a stimulating environment for undergraduate education and I have been enjoying both studying and campus life in beautiful Seattle, I found my academic interest has changed lately. Over a year ago, I was attracted to UW among all universities I was admitted to, because of its excellent reputation in the field of biomedicine and history. I recently traveled toseveral remote areas in the western part of China.

I returned to the village where my family helped to build a bridge. It is one of the poorest regions there.. We helped raise funds in order to build the bridge because a lot of children die when they try to cross the river during the flood season. This time I discovered that, though the bridge project was going well, the basic living conditions in the village had not improved . We visited another village in a different province soon after. The natural condition of that village was similar to the previous village.

They too suffered from lack of resources, transportation and basic education. However, I found it interesting that the economic situation was different. These people had been exploring their traditions in carved stone and sold them as artistic products in various parts of China and Asia. I studied their business model and sales networking models in order to see if I could copy it for the other village. I explained what I had learned to my father and he agreed that the business model could help sustain the village if the villagers were taught how to properly do business.

It was significant to teach people about business, so they can develop their own economics and ensure the sustainability of the development. That experience helped me realize how important the subjects of economics and business could be. That is what led me to develop an interested in economics. I began to focus on economics related classes in the university. I was eager to learn the study materials and discuss with my peers and business managers. I did well in these classes.

I got 4.0 in classes like macroeconomics, statistics, and business law. I also participated in a project on information technology led by a professor in Foster School of Business at the university. These are the reasons why I am ready to become a student in Business and Economics. That is the major reason why I must transfer to a program which provides the best education in economics and business. Leaving Seattle and UW will be sad, but I know that I will enjoy the more challenging studies in my field of interest .

Having been traveling between the Asian and American world since I was born, Im more interested in business or economics programs involving in multi-cultures. The visit to your campus and discussion with people in your university helped me to the program your university offers in my subjects of interest and that is why Im enthusiastically applying for admission to your university. My transcript proves that I have done well in all my past subjects and I have the ability to adapt to living and learning situations.
