A multitude of factors has contributed to this phenomenal success of a country with more than one sixth of the world’s population. In brief it is a burgeoning market for luxuries and semi-luxuries.
I seek to focus the attention of the company management on the three fundamental but interrelated factors – strategy, context and performance. Strategic initiatives of a nation are basically determined by a set of broader predefined policy objectives that outweigh otherwise unimportant presumptuous goals. Context acquires both a national and an international significance in the face of a country’s ability or inability to garner resources at its disposal to achieve those strategic policy goals. Contextual bottlenecks might operate against the country’s own desires and policy parameters, though compliance with rules and regulations may altogether minimize such hindrances to a certain extent. Finally, parameters of performance such as economic well-being, social progress, political stability and positive impact on international relations, necessarily contribute to overall progress of that society.
Modern China has slowly, but surely, achieved these parametric goals through a combination of political, economic and social policies and measures that have transformed the whole Chinese society into an economically significant world player. There is little or no parallel to this extraordinary success story right now. It is ranked the top-most investment destination in the world. China and India dominate the top two ...Download file to see next pagesRead More

The rate of the population is faster in undeveloped countryside areas, where it is very hard to find work (Zeng, 2008). This growth is considered to be below replacement level; hence, the current population growth is expected to increase life; expectance. Chinese person now lives an average of 74 years. China Country Profile

China’s political system is very much in the hands of bureaucrats and government officials. One has to rely on them to get business done- this is due to the tradition of ‘guanxi’ (Tian n.d) which is about maintaining good relations with the Chinese. In China, it is not the law that matters but the people in power and their interpretation of the law. Due to this very practice, free trade agreements and ease of starting business in China still rests in the hands of bureaucrats and how well one maintains terms with them. Due to government interferences, tariff rates are high but recently, due to globalization, tariff rates have been lowered down in China. Strengthening the ‘reform’ policy (Tian n.d), rat...

The network identifies a business opportunity, amasses the capital and influences...

... Afghan War I will discuss about the US war in Afghanistan, based on the international system level of analysis. The role of multiple international players is evident in the war when we judge it from this perspective. The Soviet war intervention that started in 1979 laid the basis of conflict that persists till this day. Since the Soviet invasion was unacceptable to the United States, a number of forces in the war zone were heavily funded by the US to ensure expulsion of the Soviet forces; thus making room for the local fighters to flourish. Following the defeat of Soviet forces, the local armed groups were left unattended by the world. This allowed the fighters to plan and conduct an operation that literally shocked the world; the 9/11...
