Syria has been facing political turmoil in the recent past with the citizens engaging the government in protests and fighting. As a result, the country has registered a large number of refugees vacating to secure safety in other regions. The refugee crisis has attracted interests from different quarters in which organizations are trying to accommodate the fleeing Syrians. Debra Black’s article “Citizen-led initiative Lifeline Syrian working to bring 1,000 Syrian refugees to the GTA” indicates that Canadian organizations are rolling out programs of accommodating at least 1000 Syrian refugees (Black, 2015).

The efforts coordinated by Mayor John Tory and Ratna Omidvar are aimed at mobilizing Canadians to contribute towards the initiative. The same news was covered by other international news agencies that tend to alleviate the sufferings experienced by the Syrians. It is apparent that the international community is trying to come up with possible solutions to avoiding mass exodus (Black, 2015). This is because the situation is a humanitarian crisis that affects the children and women who are suffering under inhumane conditions.

In this regard, Black (2015) suggests that Canadian groups need to introduce measures that allow Syrian families to stay in the country for temporary purposes. This implies that states need to provide amenities that can help the incoming refugees that need the services offered in the country. The Syrian refugee menace is an international matter that requires urgent solutions with the GTA countries establishing ways of stopping the protests (Black, 2015).
