How cooperation’s became the most powerful people of in the U.S. In today’s world, corporations are the most powerful people in it. It is because corporations have the greatest influence in people’s lives. A suitable fact that will help to illustrate this is that of the 100 largest economies on the planet, 51 are corporations and only 49 are nations. It is based on corporate sales and a country’s GDP. As the era of globalizations is fast gaining momentum, people who are marginalized are getting more irritated by the intentions of big corporations.

It has led to the resistance and protests against globalization that is led by corporations. The main question that people who are against corporations are asking themselves is how the corporations managed to get all the power that they currently wield. Corporations have been around for at least some centuries. Roach (p17) argues that corporations are capable of influencing governments through giving political donations. This means that a state may allow private finances to be used by the public, after the corporation has been granted a charter.

The original creation of riches and merchants was to help in the expansion of the state it belonged to and aid during wars. In corporations, debts cannot be inherited compared to an individual.As corporations increased their wealth and gained more power, the laws that were meant to keep them on check became increasingly relaxed. Some of the ideologies that made corporations to be so powerful are, economic growth is progress, free market is the best, globalization of the economy would be good to everyone, and efficiency in public sector is enhanced through privatization.
