This way, Dostoevsky shows that a man’s life is not entirely governed by fate and luck instead a major part of the happenings in a man’s life is due to his own decisions and choices. In addition, Dostoevsky also shows that man’s choices and decisions in life, coupled with fate and luck, influences the people around him even after his death. Thus our lives should not depend on fate and luck alone.
Unlike modern interpretations that hold the female roles of the early 20th century were powerless and meaningless, both of these books reveal flashes of tremendous strength in the form of the female figure, both within and without the traditional roles. Fairy tales are dubbed such because they present us with a glimpse of another world. This is a world that is similar to ours in that it typically contains all the same features and natural processes, but in this world, things work a little differently. The rules can be bent, changed, or work directly opposite to how they work in our world.
From this essay, it is clear that if the character is describing himself or herself, a self-deprecating attitude is best. In the novel, the “We” character does not attempt to let the reader be endeared to its persona and tried its best to be level headed. Hence, the reader does not feel that Ms. Emily is an underdog of an oppressive society out to gossip about her.

Poe makes the famous tale of Lenore’s lamenting lover memorable by carefully crafting a vivid Gothic setting throughout the poem. “The Raven” was the first of Poe’s works to achieve critical acclaim. The poem was first published in 1845.
Aristotle, in his renowned Poetics, views men mere objects of imitation. “Since the objects of imitation are men in action, he argues, and these men must be either of a higher or a lower type, it follows that we must represent men either as better than in real life, or as worse, or as they are. The South is Miss Emily, personified in her refusal to pay taxes and her failure to acknowledge the new reality which surrounds her, culminating in her dismissive treatment of the town’s authorities and her rejection of the very concept of the mailbox services. The South is also the decaying mansion; the mansion which is falling into disrepair.
Tthis book does make reference to events that could happen and have happened in the past. There are no zombies, those who have perished do not come back to us however the characters are zombie-like. There are no big surprises or shocking events to suddenly jolt us then allow us to return back to reality.
Therefore, what Barbara Ehrenreich has narrated in Nickel and Dimed is an account of her bitter experience as a low-class worker. She worked in several places in America to find out whether the situation is the same for all such workers everywhere in America. The irony is that America is a rich and prosperous country.

The life of this man is written to portray the sad existence of so many people who live and die without being loved or appreciated, and the town in which he lives is populated by “someones” and “everyone's” who continue on with their daily lives only thinking of themselves. Rudyard Kipling grew up in a time when colonialism and imperialism were strong factors in the Indian way of life. Born in India, he nursed a strong love for the country throughout his life, but not necessarily for the traditional beliefs of the natives.

The original plan was to have each character tell two stories on the way to Canterbury and two stories on the way back, but either Chaucer never finished the journey or the entire collection has never been found. What is unique about the tales is that each character has a different voice and a different perspective on life. Another aspect of language that is distinctive about this story is the use of Biblical allusion as in the names of the characters aside from the title itself. People are quite happy to drink the diet versions of the original drinks and think that these do not contain carbohydrates and fats. Well unfortunately as I have no other option I would like to give these people a surprise by stating the fact according to a survey these fizzy drinks in any form are the biggest factor of obesity in humans.

The main problem is to focus a reader’s attention on various elements of our lives that frequently pass by under our radar because they are ubiquitous in our society. In each of these three stories, it can be seen that the female characters’ lives were strongly constrained by the attitudes of their society and their ability to question them.
Emily was loved by many men of the town but they were all forced by her father." (Collected Stories,1995) She feels that she has no freedom at all. Through the years, the influence of her father affects her mental state. Hence, she doesn't recognize nor accept the death of his father even after his burial.
Both plays focus on the idea of deception as the primary means of driving the action. Therefore, while deception can be seen to be the primary theme in both plays, then, the outcomes are different based on the characters’ different choices regarding whether to continue the deception or to ‘come clean’.
According to the research findings, there are several main points made in Walter Percy’s essay and it is easy to agree with most of them since the issues described in the essay can be experienced and have been experienced by many learners. To better understand these issues and to know why the issues are valid problems, it would be ideal if we examine them individually.

Similarly, in the “Snake”, the speaker is faced with an animal that is known to be dangerous and in his mind.

The character of Linda Brent (that is the author herself) cannot be analyzed the same way one would analyze a character in a play. Yet, the polemic of the novel often distorts our perception of the heroine, driving the focuses from the multidimensional nature of a really existing human being to her reactions to the conditions of her slave life.
Webbing around language in first person narration, theme structure and context, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle was able to create tension, define characters and set the mood and atmosphere.
The consequences for both characters are essentially the same in that they are both tragically misunderstood and although regarded as outcasts are no different from anyone else. Both Lee and Camus demonstrate major societal conflict through their themes of loneliness as manifested in Boo and Meursault.
The place may vary, the social conditions may vary, and even the culture may be different. But, the basic maternal love and desire cannot be different. If a mother is not intelligent enough to study and understand the different kinds of pressures under which she brings up her child, the relationships with her daughter may become strenuous
From this paper, it is clear that the author’s use these conflicts to bring the protagonist to maturity and self-awareness. Jane Austen’s protagonist Emma Woodhouse is a wealthy young woman lacking in nothing, perhaps only modestly. Her growth and maturity revolve around her attempts at romantic matchmaking and especially her attempts to groom Harriet.
The author describes that the grandmother and her family in O'Connor's novel had an accident on a rural road. The car they flagged down was a convicted killer called The Misfit and his two cohorts. When the grandmother recognized him as The Misfit and told him so. This made The Misfit decide to kill everyone right there on the spot.
Richard Wrights “Black Boy,” tells the story of his personal struggle as a black boy growing up in 20s America in Jim Crow South. However, it is also a social and political commentary on the historical position of black people in the United States at that time and as such the book offers a wider commentary beyond the personal experience of one boy.
I found the poem to be quite uplifting in the beginning but the notes at the end certainly took a downward turn since the end of the unpatriotic led me to feel sorry for such a person. Perhaps that is the idea that Scott was trying to give and if that is the case then the poem certainly succeeded in passing that idea.
A figurative language is a tool that an author employs to help the reader visualize what is happening in a story. Some common types of figurative language are - simile, metaphor, alliteration, onomatopoeia, idiom, puns, and sensory language. Language is the only way we have to be able to communicate with each other about the real world around.
As English literature progresses with the daily changes to which the world continually adapts, the key elements of prose and poetry have significantly changed over the years. The classic pieces of the past have served as stairways to today’s bold and striking attempts to establish a modern literary Renaissance
The author states that a basic idea, the story, is all that is needed to write a naturally flowing novel. Some of the best-written novels are the ones that were written as the ideas came to light, and not from something planned and written in advance. Sometimes it is best to let the story take hold of itself.
