Furthermore, the novel shows woman recalls lying down in the family pool. As she lies down, she recalls the passing away of her mother. She mourns the mother’s death (Florian 45). The bible story of Lazarus shows the family mourned the untimely death of Lazarus. However, Jesus arrived to resurrect the dead Lazarus, John Chapter 11, verse 38 to 44 (Yancey 958). Moreover, the words of the novel include the woman looking up from the pool where she is lying in to observe the rays of the sun above. She observes that the sun’s rays scatter into different directions. She listens intently for someone calling her name. The calling included asking the listening woman to “Come_here, come_now, and_forever, until you_disappear, northeast (Florian 45).” The plot reminds us of another bible story. Jeremiah chapter 33, specifically verse 3, favorably talks about favorably listening intently in a prayerful mood. The verse continues, “Call me and I will reply and inform you of great as well as unsearchable issues that you currently do not_know (Yancey 701).” Further, the novel states the woman specifically delves her mind’s extracting the memory of the death of the mother, one year prior. At zero degree, the woman starts out on her memory sailing journey. The woman pinpoints, “this is my personal empty_box.” as she wonders how the memory poignantly retrieves the memory of her mother’s death (Florian 17). The novel focuses on the tumultuous constantly changing position of a person on the life waves. Being on top of the wave means one is happy. To reach quietness, one should reach the storm’s eye. Furthermore, the novel dictates, “The principles_of the Tectonic_Plate concept states the earth is composed of both the lithosphere layer and the asthenosphere.” The lithosphere includes both the crust as well as the mantle. The asthenosphere includes the boiling hot molten magma, often violently thrown out of the volcanoes’ mouth (Florian 23). The Tectonic_Plate concept reminds us of another the bible story. The bible story favorably focuses on the creation of the earth. Genesis enumerates how God created the earth, plants, animals, and the first two human beings (Yancey, 25). Moreover, one of the novel’s passages is, “the divergent_boundary occurs when two individuals are moving away from the other person until they finally separate (Florian 23).” The bible favorably includes memory stories of separation of two persons. The same Lazarus bible story shows the same separation issue (Yancey 958). Additionally, another novel’s passage is, “Pangaea_continent splintered (separated) and moved into different directions on earth, opening up the Atlantic Ocean as well as the Indian Ocean (Florian 18).” The novel passage reminds us of how Moses separated the ocean so that the Jewish people could pass through and escape from the pursuing Pharaoh’s soldiers, specifically Exodus Chapter 14 verse 21 (Yancey 86). Lastly, another novel passage states, “the lone thing that the woman looks at as she wades towards the east direction through the entrance and the same east direction into the hallway is the dead dove’s face laying on the sidewalk, similar to the woman’s dead mother’s face, incorporating the box where the woman’s brother was previously buried (Florian 33)” The passage shows the woman’s emotional water journey. The bible story (Mathew Chapter 27, verses 32 to 56) of Jesus’ crucifixion journey shows Mary and the apostles’ suffering and mourning (Yancey 885). Further, the novel’s story line includes, “I prefer returning home, west_by north (Florian 85)”. The story shows the people, especially the woman, prefer the safety and comfort of the home. The bible shows the apostles prioritize acts that will bring them to their heavenly home. The Israelites were dismayed why Moses did not bring them home to the Promised Land within 40 years. Numbers Chapter 12, verse 12 states God refused to immediately bring home the Israelites for disobeying God’s commands (Yancey 158). The woman recalls Socrates blames the human body for the current ailments afflicting the human person. The ailments include being forsaken, sick, as well as broken. The body creates the hunger fangs (Florian 17). The woman visits the nearby bakery. The woman selects several food alternatives. The alternatives include bread. The bible story, Proverbs chapter 16 (verse 26), people must work in order to pay for their food (Yancey 582). Mark’s Chap 6 (verses 35-44) discusses Jesus’ feeding 5,000 hungry people from 2 fishes and 6 bread loaves (Yancey 896). The novel shows she often wonders whether it would rain today. She feels it is a strong probability that the bright sun will give way to clouds bringing rain (Florian 89). The novel line supports the bible story indicating people must prepare for the unexpected future. Mathew chapter 25 (verse 1 to 12) discusses how five virgins brought oil to the wedding place. They were preparing for the nigh arrival of the groom. The other five other virgins did not bring oil because they did not expect the groom will arrive at night. Consequently, the virgins with candle oil married the groom (Yancey 881). Conclusion The Florian novel explains the importance of using one’s compass while travelling through life’s many highs and lows. Climate change leads to extinction and other unfavorable outcomes. The bible stories help resolve life’s many dilemmas and obstacles. The story includes preparing oneself for the unexpected hindrances and dilemmas of life.
