In Edgerton New Bank, the author, says that his father lost most of the cases, this is because he was black. In the town, there was a lot of corruption, most of the offenders, therefore got away with most of the crimes they committed because they could bribe the judge and therefore the judge could swing the judgment in their favor (Allan 7). However, this did not apply to every offender, most of the offenders who used to get away with the crime were white. The blacks were considered primitive, who should be locked in jails.
This was so unfair, because, some of the blacks were innocent. Despite their innocence, most of them were locked up and false evidence implanted to implicate them. For example, on page 8, the author says that the policemen called the black men monkeys (Allan 10). This was racial abuse because comparing human beings to animals is so bad, because it undermines the individual rights. In addition to that, when Arthur went fishing, most of the time he used to be intimidated by his neighbors. Some of the neighbors’ used to tell him that only human beings were allowed to fish in the lake.
He was told that all the other animals are supposed to eat grass or chase other wild animals for food. Most of the author’s friends were white, this therefore meant that only white people were allowed to fish, everyone else (all the animals) are supposed to be at home. This was not right because, all human beings are equal, because they were all created by God. Therefore, when the white people are seeing themselves to be more equal than others, then something is wrong. The author, explains that most of the times he used to get stressed, that he locked himself up the all day (Allan 9).
This was because, he could not understand why the other children did not want to play with him. In connection to this, the author at one point thought about committing suicide. He explains that, were it not for his older sister intervention, then he could have
