Cinderella: Synthesis Activity # 8 Introduction This folklore is amongst the oldest and one of the most known tales of all times. It has been popular since centuries as well amongst children of young age. Having different perspectives to the story with different variants of details Cinderella and is then perceived differently in all parts of the world. It is just not a love story it’s constituted many of the ideas that make it is a very strong story of how destiny is inevitable. An interesting outlook to Cinderella story is if it was based under a college campus. It would be a completely new outlook to how Cinderella would meet the love of her life and how her Prince charming in todays world would look like being a fiction story. Cinderella around a College Campus Cinderella just at the age of 10 was ripped off from her mother when she died in a car accident. Her father was the one who took care of her afterwards but soon fell in love with Fiona, her stepmother. At first she was the nice welcoming stepmother but as soon as she got married to Cinderella’s father, it was clear that she was after the money only played nice to attain all the wealth of her Cinderella’s later mother. Her father, although took much care of her but was boggled down by the beauty of her new wife, so much so that he choose to marry her knowing that she had to step daughters. This sudden change in her life caused many problems between Cinderella and her father’s relationship. Cinderellas father married Fiona as she turned 18 and with the hardships she went through, she felt more like a house maid than anything else. The only way for her survival was to move away from the house, in a method that was not offensive to her father. She saw in education that he could move out to college campus and shut herself of from the rest of the world. Heal and follow her passions. Fiona being in charge of all the money matters situation didnt help Cinderella at all in her college application process and also discouraged her to not go to college. She emphasized mostly on how she was to take care of the house and look out for her step sisters. Despite Fionas struggle to stop Cinderella from going to college Cinderella did end up going to a small state college where she got a scholarship and started working as a teachers assistant to pay her bills. Survival was the only thing on her mind, financially broke all Cinderella could hope was that she was not put under direct pressure of her step mother to get involved in anything she wanted. These thoughts came every time she thought of her father. Watching him showed that her step mother now had so much control over her father that he also now thought that Cinderella was at fault for leaving for higher education and she never accepted her new mother while all she was doing was for her own good. Torn apart by both sides of the family Cinderella was depressed and cried over the only fireplace she could find in the woods near the college. She lit up the fire using dry wood and twigs at night and sat with a book or just alone and cried, looking into the fire as if trying to burn all her sadness, pain and tears through the eyes of the fire. This stress then elevated as Fiona decided to send her step daughters to college with Cinderella. She realized that this was her step mother’s approach to not let go of her and now help her daughters to have a personal assistant while she is at college. Fiona even set the same class schedule so that the step daughters could copy all the work and take the credit. All she could promise was that she would pay half of her educational expenses. This wasn’t much promising to Cinderella but gave her some extra cash to get involved in some extracurricular activities to take her mind off of the stress she was going to go for the next four years. As the year started to pass the burden became harder on Cinderella. Having tougher subjects and being a nanny to her step sisters who bullied her occasionally and made fun of her ragged jeans and simple clothing, Cinderella started to visit her secret fire place much often. Lighting up smokes and sitting besides the fire she would then cry and have herself gone through the emotional stress alone, with not even her father to share anything with. On one night of full moon there was something different, the fire was much warmer, the sticks burned for longer and Cinderella could see a gleaming face in the fire. It was like the fire wanted to talk to Cinderella. It was in fact the face of her dead mother talking to her directly. Cinderella scared and startled though she was dreaming but the fire and the face of her mother in emerging was as real as it could get. Lied within was something she hoped as the solutions of her problems, a friend. All Cinderella could do was cry more and talk about the pain she went through the years since her father married Fiona. Consoling Cinderella, her mother gave her the advice that things change, people change and for whoever goes through the tough times, get the reward. The pain Cinderella, was going through would disappear, like magic. Her mother disappeared as the sticks burned to ashes and Cinderella sat there thinking that whatever happened was it just her imagination or reality. Shocked, relieved and confused by what her mother said Cinderella looked out for something good to happen to her because life was going to exclude her if she didn’t let loose. Her thoughts and hardship does answer as when Cinderella being in the student council is reached out to join in the Annual Ball. Fascinated but constrained she wished she would just never exist because she couldn’t afford nice clothes or had anyone to go with. Beauty could go just too far for her and being constraint in all cases she overheard her step sisters finding their dates and planning limo’s and sneaking drinks. Sitting by the fire again, her mother’s face emerged again. Opening her heart to her mother, or just the imagination as Cinderella thought, she exclaimed how unfortunate she was to not be able to go to the one event everyone awaits. Surprisingly her mother tells her to get ready by going home. After telling how financially poor she was, her mother answers her by telling, if magic is what brought her to the fire, magic will help the beloved one for which nothing is impossible. She tells Cinderella to then check her wardrobe when she reaches her dorm room. To Cinderella’s surprise, a pearl dress with white heels and a pearl necklace is hanging by her wardrobe with a note saying to return it to the wardrobe by midnight. Along with the note she also finds the ticked to the Annual Ball Dance. Excited she takes a shower, and for the first time looks like a Princess. Upon arriving at the Ball, she suddenly finds eyes staring her, being alone and watching all the other people having dates, Cinderella’s mind led her to only one place, the bar. Sitting alone and just looking at people dance and getting fascinated by the old classical ball room she is reached by a young handsome stranger. Ignoring while being nice, Cinderella starts enjoying her first real interaction with someone real. Cinderella when asked for dance declines but she is then pushed a bit and ends up learning. Elegant and mature, both of them start enjoying the company and go out for a ride, the same night around 11 PM by the beach Cinderella puts her head down and speaks her heart out. The chemistry clicks and both run after each other but soon Cinderella realized that all what she is weaning is not hers and calls upon the cab to drop her home. The young gentleman, startled, drops her home in courtesy and gives her number in case she ever wanted to talk. What she doesn’t realize is that she leaves her bag in his car. She returns the suit in a matter of urgency and the next day is the same old Cinderella. For the college she then becomes the shining beauty and soon the step daughters start hearing words about her. Shocked of how all guys then flocked to Cinderella they complain to her mother who tries to withdraw her education but now, the young charming finds her way through. In avoidance, she confesses how it was all just for the night and nothing was serious, but it was too late. Cinderella finds in him the true meaning of love and follows through. After putting up with all the pain she went through, she realizes that he was the only friend she wanted and all she could have. Fiona realizes that the young gentleman is in fact the son of the Principal of the College. She puts a condition that is would be better that he would marry either two of her daughters. Despite all her efforts, William then reaches out to the father, in knowing all the past and present the father is now helpless. Cinderella then decides to put her past away and gets married to William. Although she goes through all the pain with her father and step mother, she still invites them to her wedding and her father then realizes that she trusted the wrong people all along. Cinderella never looked for money and achieved what she wanted with following her heart and being pure. Now living happily ever after Cinderella’s college life when becomes much more dominant.
