This preoccupation suggested advancement in technology in the contemporary world. It also shows the nature of consumerism system of economy.

The system of economy allows people to buy things in large quantities even if they do not require them, and this leads to waste. Howard records his family’s voices and not business proceedings. This means that the recorder is not being used for the intended purpose. 10. Bernard asked Willy why Biff visited him in Boston during his youthful age. He also asks what Willy did to Biff in Boston to lower his morale and motivations of working hard in mathematics and attending a university. 13. Willy felt that his suicide would end Linda’s suffering so that she could be at par with her sons.

He felt that in his absence, the children would respect their mother and Linda would no longer worry about his illusions and reality. 14. Biff seemed to be encouraging Willy to commit suicide through his quarrels with the father and continuous questioning about Willy’s behavior. Eventually, Biff pushed Willy to his grave and Willy committed suicide so that Biff would enjoy his insurance money ($20,000). 17.
