Vernon God Little by D.B.C Pierre - Book Report/Review Example

Impact of good and evil, wealth and poverty, cause and effect, all these themes are evident in D.B.C. Pierre's novel Vernon God Little. Vernon, on the other hand, has problems with absorbing each one of them. The composition is being told in the first-person recitation by Vernon. Like several 15-year old kids, Vernon's language is full of vulgar language and a distorted outlook of life; also he frequently shares his learning's with the readers. In addition to his garbled words, a few were done on purpose, several from a lack of schooling or a Texas talk which cannot bind the tongue along with the mind around particular words. Shortly, though, this tone of an estranged teenager inserts its way into the reader's brain and conveys an intense insight into his world. Vernon God Little takes his readers on an expedition of the world he knew, one that is puzzling and conflicting. Vernon is at the loosing end. Nobody would allow him to reveal his story, plus everything he acts, or has ever performed works against him. There were joints inside his pocket, pornography inside his room, also proof of masturbation at all point towards his short of morals which further toughens the town's confidence that he is a murderer. The jailer scoffs him, a psychiatrist tried to exploit him, his legal representative could barely converse in English, and also the media desires to condemn him, all for the benefit of money and ratings. Vernon believed that his only means out of his troubles is to run towards Mexico, but he does not have the money to make it possible. Vernon lives together with his mother, his father was said to have vanished and was assumed dead, money is limited. His mother has mastered the skill of submissive-aggression and victimhood. She has also been a burden for his image, where she informed one pushy news reporter that "even murderers are being loved by their own families you know." We could observe in this composition that, however the hardships Vernon has gone through; God has his own way of reaching through him. He appears to be stuck with the ordinary adolescent confusion of the world, but however complicated; it is observed that Vernon is obviously guided towards the right direction. Also when the world shifts against him, it makes even less sensible to him. He's an intense spectator of the world. He has somehow observed what the people around him crave for. By miracle, Vernon's story was heard by the people around him while he was inside the prison cell. And by miracle, his sentence turned out to be a parole. Furthermore, Lally and Taylor who thought of destroying Vernon for their own benefit were the ones whose lives were turned upside down. This is made possible by the power of God. Vernon God Little contains several faults. It appears to be irregular at times with flickers of radiance trailed by encounters of listless existence within Martirio. Every now and then Vernon's dialogue takes on a quality technique beyond any 15-year old individual, let alone Vernon. For the majority, though, the book progresses at a good passage and Vernon is an pleasurable escort of his life, although his life happens to be one you would rather he not guide. The author, D.B.C. Pierre, has confined the spirit of the distressed adolescent, and exposed us his soul.
