Literature review The Adrianne Rich text on the Women and Honor :Some s on Lying was a piece that had the intention of ascertaining the relationship between women, on the other hand, the Violence of Lambs presented the dystopian future that animals were presenting as per the aspect of violence. Sullivan asserts that battle that animals may bring upon humans because of the aspect of global warming among a list of challenges. Over time, the world has witnessed intense conflicts between wild animals and human beings as the relationship between the two has been on a deteriorating trend. Man has invaded the peace that animals have experienced in the wild for many centuries. In contrast, Adrienne’s text highlights the reasons as to why women have opted to formulate relationships with their kind rather than men. Both texts have both similarities and differences that exemplify their uniqueness in their own way. Therefore, this essay will zone in on the comparisons between the two texts in terms of themes and by giving personal views on the two texts. This will be through the portrayal of how deception, pretense have made the authors take their stand on their belief. According to Sullivan, the future that many religious clerics had been talking about would be here sooner than the world had initially anticipated. The author intimates that the religious concepts fed upon the human race were subject to questioning as their beliefs have no basis. Subsequently, this has led to the author to remove the ideology of religious concept from his school of thought. I think the author lives in a world of his own as he seems to believe in matters that are not super natural but only human. The author encourages his audience to love their lives in tandem with their liking by not allowing any individual to dictate their code of living. I think Sullivan is a rebel in his own way as he believes in doing the opposite of the norm as he tends to idealize his own thinking rather than believe in what he calls deceit by religion. Further, the author discusses the effects that man’s greed has influenced on the environment to which man has opted to blame the environment for his woes. On the contrary, this author seems to have taken the side of the flora and fauna to portray that they are the victims of pollution and not man as he would the world to believe. Sullivan seems to justify the reasons as to why animals have opted take their wrath on human beings as they no longer feel protected by the human species. In my view, Sullivan is an author that does not sugar coat his thinking while at the same time justifies that his statements do not intend to instill fear. On the other hand, Rich’s text has a different approach to that of Sullivan as the author presents the relationship between the female gender as a result of male influence (Rich 412). In essence, the author states that women have to be pure, honest, and loyal to their husbands who might be vengeful killers. Rich describes how women have to lie in order for them to be virtuous in the eyes of society while men do not have to show emotions towards their women. I think Rich presents the bitter truth that men would not want to hear regarding to the loss that men feel about losing women. It is because of the aspect of being lonely and lied to constantly that has led women to develop a liking for women as they tend to be more sensual. Therefore, men in heterosexual relationships find themselves having to lie in order for them to have control over their men as they tend to be coercive and manipulative. Additionally, the author justifies the reason as to why women lie as they do so in order for them to fill the emptiness as the lies appear to be their denial of fear (Rich 416). The notion presented by this concept of lying is that relationships are the principal basis for relationships. For instance, women have to make pretense over their perceived control over their relationships as men have minimal regard for the emotions of their women. I can relate to this fact as men to devote their time towards the innovations and not on their emotions. Therefore, when a man says that they love someone they actually do not mean but tend to say these words to make their women to experience contentment. In contrast, Sullivan helps in the generation of sympathy towards the perceived helpless animals as they have resulted to extreme measures to protect their habitats. In my view, the author draws sympathy upon readers as he portrays how self-centered man has become that he has no regard for the environment or its inhabitants. This he says is the explanation of the cruelty that animals have portrayed in their quest for vengeance. In addition, Sullivan draws his interest towards the protection of habitats for animals from the internet, which has been vital in bringing the facts like they are on the ground. Therefore, Sullivan’s understanding of this weighty matter is as per numerous researches by Animal rights observers in America. Further, he expresses the occurrences of attacks on human rights arise from animals protecting their habitat while humans enjoy nature. This presents the aspect of how lethal animals have become as they seem to have realized that humans have been having their comfort at the expense of animals. Essentially, my perception of this author is that he uses real events to express the reality of the situation that the world has to grapple with. Rich’s text has a divergent view on matters pertaining to love as it seems not to have any historical affiliation whatsoever. There are no individuals that have attested to having had to lie hence making this text one based on hearsay. The text presents political aspects as part of its argument presentation in that it portrays how lies may apply within political circles at a cost of honesty. Slowly, women have unearthed that men have constantly lied to them about the truths that have always wanted to hear. On the contrary, I hold no contempt for women that lie as them lying helps them abet unnecessary confrontations with their men. The author shows how women may change their lies into different forms that may include pretending to forget, or declare out rightly that she is cowardice (Rich 418). Arguably, both texts portray betrayal in that the animals are rebelling against ill treatment by humans while the women are rebelling against the negative emotions directed to them by their men. In both texts, there is no trust in the relationships in that both of the characters involved take up matters upon their own hands in order to protect their interests. Moreover, both texts show how deprivation of information may make a relationship non reciprocal in that the parties involved feel devalued and unappreciated. Additionally, both authors seem to be arguing against normalcy that society has had to make peace with the fact that things may not become better. In summary, Rich’s and Sullivan’s text present the different factors that may bring about lying and the degree within which an individual may belief certain facts as either truths or lies. Fundamentally, Sullivan discusses that the attacks made by animals is a result of human doing and that it has no affiliation to religion as society would make people believe. Moreover, Sullivan communicates to his readers that the worst is already here and not in the future. Rich on the other end discusses the deceitful nature of men and women as contributors to ill relationships. Rich justifies he lies that people tell in order for this aspect to appear normal in the eyes of society. Therefore, the themes and the audiences addressed by both of these authors may be different as they both draw the reader into sympathizing with the narrators and the subjects involved.
