The two stories are significantly comparable to the Cask of Amontillado in the manner in which the author uses particular incidences to illustrate the character and aspect of humanity in terms of weaknesses and strengths. The theme of death is presented in a manner that shows how humanity wishes to challenge an inevitable force through his limited efforts and powers that always certainly leads to negative consequences. In the “Premature Burial” Poe focusses on the error and shock of interring people who have not yet died (Poe 41 a).

The challenge is on the weaknesses in medical processes and frailties of human judgment. In the story, Poe brings about various illustrations that seek so point out at the manner in which the theme of death excite abnormal sensibilities due its unnatural and bizarre element. The handling of the subject of premature burials is mixed with humour, which eases the strain on human sensibilities. In the “The Masque of the Red Death” Poe uses imagery, satire, and sarcasm to mock at the character of Prince Prospero who fails to stand with his subjects at the time of need.

Poe uses metaphors to describe the forces of mystery and death in ways that expand the imagination of the reader. . It is important to consider the fact that most of the issues explored relate to some fundamental qualities of life that must be shielded from all possibilities of death. The author uses the words “Blood was its Avatar” to explain the heavy loss of life that was occasioned by the disease (Poe 18 b).

He proceeds to explain the horrible nature of the disease through the physical symptoms that showed on the faces and bodies of victims in the late stages. Therefore, the metaphor had the effect of making the disease to appear even more shocking in the imaginative sense. Some of the issues concerning the disease could be linked to a range of issues that connect with the fear of death and the powerlessness of mortals to wish away demise. Both stories are also similar in the aspect of description.

Poe employs the use of adjectives and nouns to create a mental picture of the situations as they supposedly occurred. The description adds to the element of authenticity to the extent that they are related to the aspect of realism. In “The Premature Death” uses the element of description to enhance the meaning of the stories. He employs the use of imagery and description to describe the manner in which some people have been buried alive due to the inability of those around them to detect symptoms of life in their seemingly lifeless bodies.

The descriptive language employed by the author is suitable when it comes to matching the content and the theme of the story. The subject of burying people alive is both terrifying and strange. It is because of
