Federico Garcia Lorca: Born in 5th June 1898, Garcia Lorca lived for 38 years and was a Spanish poet, theatre director and dramatist. As an emblematic member, Lorca got the worldwide recognition. According to some sources [FCL03], man from the anti-communist forces shot him on 19 August 1936 during the Spanish Civil War. Along with his teacher and two bullfighters, Lorca was killed by Fascist militiamen because he strived for the defense that was against the rebellion of Franciso Franco. Lorca is the one who always supported those who were nothing and were not allowed to enjoy that nothingness in a peaceful state of mind [GMN09]. Most of his poems referred to the very same theme of death and at the time of publishing his poems nobody knows that he will die so young. Usually poets have a close relationship with nature and they can receive the omens with more understanding as compare to other beings. Every poet has its own affiliation with certain aspect of life but when the words of poet became the live example of his life and happenings then the deep analysis of the related facts will be helpful in understanding the thought and fear behind the art work. Lorca’s unnatural death and the death factor dominating in his art work can never be unveiled without investigating his fears. Lorca’s work has the projection of myths of the dark world and an early fear of death is there in his poems. “Gacela of the Dark Death” and “Gacela of the Dead Child” are the two poems of Garcia Lorca written specifically on death. Stanza wise review of the poem is there to explore the source drivers behind the theme of the poem. “Gacela of the Dark Death” by “Garcia Lorca”: Garcia Lorca elicit out his at most desire to sleep for an hour, day or century to get himself out of the cruel realities of the life. Lorca just wanted to sleep and he desired that people should know that he was not dead but is just taking a break from the harsh occurring. It was the same desire made by other poets to design a door in the boundary walls of the earth through which they can go outside the scenario whenever they wanted. Some of the poets even wish for a window through which they can see life beyond the earth boundaries. Following are the related facts with description that can explain the desire of the poet to get rid of the unforgiving facts of death. Death is one of the most commonly discussed topics in the community of artists, poets, writers, producers and directors. Lorca is relatively more concerned about writing his poems having a word or two about death and in some poems even the whole theme revolves around the death. It’s a way of showing fears and sharing sorrows that lessens its magnitude. “Gacela of the Dark Death” by “Garcia Lorca” is the poem that shows the fear of death while sleeping. Dark Death is the metaphor used for the moon – the mouth of serpent. Same moon that is an only source of light in the dark night is termed as the dark death driver by Lorca. Poem “Gacela of the Dark Death” by “Garcia Lorca” starts with the wish to sleep like apple or to have a sweet dream of a child [GDD03]. In the very next stanza, Lorca describes the reason of the desire that he did not want to hear the news of death once again. He gave up bearing the death loses again and again. Listening to the water thirst from a nearly dead person is indeed painful when the listener is helpless to bring him water. For Lorca moon is the mouth of serpent that swallows the life of a sleeping person and thus did not let the person see the beautiful dawn. Poet was too disturbed over the situation that he desired for a sleep that lasts for an hour, month, year and century. In the same stanza, Lorca’s fear of death is observed when he write that people should know that he haven’t died but just in a dream. Lorca called himself the shadow of his own tears. He was also afraid of sleep as he said that cover me up with a veil or in other words he want to get him hidden from the moon – the mouth of the serpent. Perception of life, death, happiness and joy are different for different people. Same moon that is a source of love for most of the poets is the mouth of serpent for Lorca. He was so upset because of the cruelties of the death that he wanted to get escape from death by sleeping for centuries. There was real fear behind the desire and threats to his life that were explored later after his unnatural death. “Gacela of the Dead Child” by “Garcia Lorca”: Garcia Lorca wrote down his feelings along with the response of clouds, winds, river, flowers, hills, dog and water; over the death of a young boy who drowned in the river. Holding the dead body of the boy poet felt the tears of all of the beings around him. Following are the respective details that can explain the attitude of poet towards the death. Garcia Lorca in “Gacela of the Dead Child” wrote on a child death [GCD03]. Beginning with the fact that every evening child death is faced by the earth over which waters stand down overwhelmed with grieve and cries with its companion over the death. Every natural object is sorry over the death either it be cloud, wind, river, flowers, pheasants etc. Today was the turn of a wounded boy. Boy was drowned in the river and the poet was reminding the time when he first met the boy in caverns of wine. Out of grief the crumb of clouds just left their space. Near the river there are hills, Lillie flowers and sorrowful dogs shedding tears over the death of the wounded boy. Poet was holding the dead body of the boy near the river bank. Poets have great natural understanding and observation that they can even feel for the objects that can’t elicit their condition. Garcia Lorca was in pain over the dead of the boy and he found that all of the witnesses of the dead have same feelings as he had. Either it is water or Lille, either it is dog or river bank and either it is the hill or clouds all are in the same trauma. Garcia Lorca is a nature loving poet and the one who used to write down the soothing winds, colorful clouds, smiling roses and water flow can feel for the pain of them all as well. Death of a child is not only the death of a single boy rather it is the loss faced by the poet along with his friends – flowers, water, cloud, winds, hills and dogs. Lorca is the one who always supported those who were nothing and were not allowed to enjoy that nothingness in a peaceful state of mind and the cost of this support was later paid by scarifying his own life. Conclusion: Federico Garcia Lorca once quoted that the dead ones are more alive in Spain as compare to any other part of the world. Lorca received more fame at the time of his death.
