I wish to conquer with the soviet government that jazz music, which promoted western culture, was a threat to political system of the union I feel that allowing jazz music was a big threat to the stability of the union since it would influence the society to adopt the western system. This would ultimately have negative impact to the nation. Protection of a fragile economic system required a peaceful environment, which was to be achieved by eradication of jazz music. Music was a threat since the composers figured the western system of the soviet system.

I was happy when Communist Party made three resolutions, concerning jazz music. I feared that jazz music would affect negatively the social-cultural system of our communities. Neo colonialism occurs when people accept a foreign system indirectly. For instance, performing jazz music in Soviet Union promoted neo colonialism. Political stability of the nation immensely felt alarmed. Protecting soviet culture required a move, which would avert any western culture. This aimed at eradicating anything related to western culture, which would influence people, making them turn their backs on their nation.

Indeed, it is very difficult to convince people to accept a certain political system when an alternative would work. This fear engulfed Soviet Union thereby leading to the ban on jazz music. I strongly feel that western music has failed to appreciate culture of the natives. Many audience or lovers of the western music would ape the western mannerism and propagate it in the society. Soviet Union could not sit and watch when things go out of hand. They had act fast before it was too late. Unity of Soviet Union was paramount and any move that threatened the unity had to meet a full blow.

Muradeli’s opera was musically successful, but its content was a disgrace to the soviet society. Central committee pointed racial conflict in the lyrics of the song. Soviet Union brought many races together. The union tried its best to enhance peace and unity among the people. A musical line that would elicit drifting of the races posed a great challenge to the society. Many youths started taking sides, which was dangerous to our communities. Racial discrimination or discrimination in terms of economical classes is a threat to any political system.

Another reason that led to prohibition of jazz music was that jazz was against Socialist realistic principles. To this extent, I feel that jazz composers went against the grain of the Soviet Union. Socialist principles promoted socialist culture, which in part stated that western culture was unpalatable. Formalism was the theme of the jazz music, which would expose soviet political system to risk. Evidently, soviet society would have adopted a system that would have weakened the union (Edele 39).

Unity of the people relies on the ideology of the day. For instance, when the common ideology of the day promotes disintegration, it is easy for the political system of the day to fall. Musicians are able to woo very many people to their side, thus the government has to work with them in order to promote a common interest (Finkelstein, 1952:96). For instance, they tend to have an immense supporting multitude behind their backs.
