According to the report, “Bettina Edelstein talks to Ben Sisario, a Times media reporter, about a new joint effort to crack down on downloads of pirated content with repeated warnings for offenders and eventually, tougher measures, like slowed-down connections and blocked browsing” (The New York Times par. 1). The recent talks on security breaches were deemed to be alarming given the still rising trend of hacking and piracies in major companies. I believe that the trends on security breaches have continued to concern technology practitioners as hacking and piracy in the World Wide Web applications proliferate.
Despite alleged measure to enhance security in technological gadgets, the issues of hacking, piracy and security breaches continue to exist in major organizations compromising various stakeholders. In a related news article, for example, Richmond reported that “Hackers continued to plague the Arizona state police, releasing online yet another trove of stolen data and defacing eight police Web sites in what the hackers called “the third knockout blow”” (Richmond par. 1). This is alarming news to the public and to society since organizations, especially government institutions and financial organizations that are expected to guard personal (or corporate) information have been compromised repeatedly by hackers.
