Keeping a computerized record enables the police to conduct their ever-rising multifaceted and broad tasks with ease. Therefore, the computerization of police records increases the value and performance of law enforcement institutions. We base on safety, organization, and enhance the speed of service delivery due to technologies. Moreover, the quantity of information generated by the flexible nature of law enforcement units is easily handled on a computerized system, unlike the initial paperwork that was costly. In regards to the benefits generated by technology, it has become an essential tool in management and decision-making. However, the computerization of police records has negatively affected the law enforcement units. Due to enhanced technology, systems are prone to accessibility by malicious people (Agarwal & Prasad, 1997).

  1. Steps to enhance understanding of a situation by a non-native English speaker

There are several steps that an officer can employ to ensure that a non-native speaker comprehends a particular situation. To begin with, the officer should pronounce their words correctly and ensure that they speak clearly. To avoid confusion, they should not exaggerate their pronunciation but it becomes effective if some words are pronounced in the same way as the non-native English speaker. Similarly, they should not cover their mouth since some listeners will find it useful to watch how they pronounce some words. In addition, they should use a moderate volume that is audible rather high or low since it may scare or strain the non-native speaker. Furthermore, it is advisable for the officer to use simple words rather than complex words. The officer should not use verb phrases because some may have similarities in pronunciation but differences in meaning with the listeners thus they may distort the information. In cases where the non-native English speaker requires clarification, the officer should state it just as it had been presented for the first time. Moreover, the use of contractions should be limited and wordiness avoided but the message should be maintained. Similarly, it is inherent for the officer to exercise patience. Application of these steps will facilitate the explanation of a situation more coherently (Porter & Grant, 1997).
