This legislation also applies to companies in Canada’s private sector that carry out operations within Canada when the personal data they gather, utilize, or release goes beyond provincial or national boundaries.

However, similar to the first set of organizations, this act is not applicable to organizations in the second set that deal with employee data. Lastly, the Canada Privacy Act applies to federally controlled firms that conduct commercial operations like banking, commercial flying, communications, and broadcasting within Canada. Unlike the first two sets of companies, this law applies to organizations in the third set that also deal with heath data about their employees (Baker, et al., n.d.). Relatively similar to the Canada Privacy Act, the USA Patriot Act is applicable to organizations mostly but headquartered in the United States.
