Treaties about Air Travel With the signing of United Nations conventions and treaties, international communities havedemonstrated the will to answer to global challenges with a mighty global response. The treaties ensure the states lives in harmony and establish the standards on which to deal with daily issues in the society. UN conventions have seen many Air travel treaties to be signed that have helped solve the global problem that are occasioned by the air travel. Chicago Convention, which was signed in 1944, established a a specialized agency known as International Civil Aviation Organization.

The agency is mandated to coordinate and regulate air travel. Through this agency, rules of airspace, rights of signatory and aircraft registration are established. It also exempts commercial air from tax. As on 2014, Chicago Conventions had 193 members state. In case of accidents, the UN deemed it right to set the amount of liability to the company on persons, luggage or goods or carried by aircrafts. The limits were set to give a standard that a plaintiff can demand for damages in case such an accident happens.

This agreement was signed is Warsaw, hence the name Warsaw convention. The treaty mandates the service provider to issue the passenger with air tickets as well as the luggage tickets. In case of a personal injury, the plaintiff is supposed to claim up to 250, 000 Francs and 17 SDR per kilogram of luggage. The claims must be made within a period of two years. The airline companies are held liable for any accidents that may occur on passengers. Nevertheless, the passengers cannot be given benefits out of claims if the accidents occurred as a result of one’s own cause.

UN Paris agreement on airworthiness helps to ensure that the imported aircrafts are up to required standards. The standards were done to ensure the overall safety of the passengers and all other party involved in the air travel. The UN Tokyo Convention deals with penal laws and any act that puts in danger the safety and well-being or the property of the civilians who are on board on a civilian aircraft on international air navigation.

UN Cape Town Treaty was instituted on (2001) standardize transactions dealing with movable property. The treaty deals with setting international standards for registration of contract of sales, leases, security interests and different legal remedy for default in meeting the terms and conditions such as failure to finance the agreement. The treaty deals with particular interest in aircraft equipments and other airspace equipments. A treaty signed on Marking of Plastic Explosives (1991) prohibits the manufacture, storage or transportation of unmarked plastic explosives in States territory.
