However, in the start of the year 2005, a student amazed the professors when he wanted to carry out a research as to why dating is not as much common as it was in the past. Further examinations by the professors proved that this observation was real. They asked in class and got a response that brought more questions than answers. The students mentioned that they would rather hook up or hang up with their friends rather than date. Further research relieved that this was a national wide trend (England and Thomas). Traditional dating was when a man asked a woman out several days prior to the day they were supposed to go dating if she was interested. The innovations made dating more casual that it was before. However, the question that bugs many people is; are hookups good or bad for women’s rights? Such encounters are aided with a lot of drinking. From the research that was carried out, more men enjoyed hookups than women did. The rates of satisfaction in women were low and many were not happy with their en counters. As much as there is dating, hooking up or any other form of interaction people need to live together. They are having children and even giving themselves names husbands and wives without thinking of getting married first. This attributes a lot to the rates of separations and bad choices that are associated with premature relationships. The increasing acceptance of cohabiting is breaking the link that was established by marriage. This is changing the difference that was there between the married and the single. In both relationships, there are more similarities than differences. The society upholds a legal marriage more than a cohabitee because of the moral upholds that is associated with the institution. In the research that professors carried out, they found that cohabitation is an alternative to marriage in this modern world, but has different benefits and respect than cohabitation. Research has shown that marriage is an institution that has been in our society for the longest time. Recently an article that was published brought out the bad state in which our society is in concerning marriage. The article read that a 40-year-old woman has better chances of being killed by a terrorist than setting married. The combination of both high rates of marriages and divorce seem paradoxical but they represent the same side of the story. Couples in marriages these days are expecting a lot than the case was earlier. In the culture we are living in divorce has lost its meaning and shame and staying in marriage has become like being marriage. A lot of those who were sampled showed similarities in the way that both the married and unmarried partners perceived satisfaction in married. In addition, the difference was seen when one partner was contented with the marriage that he or she is in and the other partner is not. Most partners complained a lot, about how the other partner did not do this or that making them being in the marriage just for convenience.
